Fisher Payker glidder straps leave red mark

Post by bjdfw » Fri May 02, 2008 7:50 am

Thied Quattro and had lots of leaks.

Therefore tried Fisher and Paykel and works much better, but the glidder straps leave a red mark on face. Something that didn't happen with Quattro.

Maybe I have a high pressure setting of 16 and that needs the mask to be more tight to seal, but any suggestions to avoid the red marks from the glidder strap? That glidder strap is basically a wire, thin as a wire, actually is a wire.

My problems with the FC431 are:

1) It leaves a big red mark on the bridge of my nose. It is so irritated that I actually break out where the mask is.

2) It makes my face itch SO much when it's on that I wake up constantly to lift the mask, scratch, refit it so it doesn't leak a little, and then go back to sleep.

Otherwise I love it.

What's a glidder strap?

On the Flexi-fits there is a gray plastic "wire" that clips into lower part of the mask and hooks to the headgear. This wire glides through these clips, basically allowing the headgear to move alittle (like when you're rolling over) while the mask stays put.
