Is there a "swap" forum here somewhere?

Post by jerryinpa » Wed Mar 12, 2008 1:10 pm

Is there a place here to "swap" things?

Specifically, what I have in mind is that I have the OPTILIFE nasal pillows system and I only use one size pillows. I'll just end up throwing the other two sizes that I have away and to replace the size that I do use is $30. Seems a shame....

Do we have a place here to trade stuff?

Yes, but it's faster to just post a new thread stating specifically what you have to trade, and what you will take in return.

Cheers,
B.

Is this ASAA? If so, let me get out of here fast.

I think cpapauction is the site for a person selling quite a few items such as selling many masks, the person who has their own commercial venture related to cpap, and the person selling a XPAP machine wanting to make sure the buyer has a prescription for one.

Barter, trades, small sales are all welcome here imho.

What bothers me is a relative "newbie" to the forum coming in and playing "cop / moderator" and dictating what is and isn't allowed in "his" forum.

This isn't "his" forum. This is a forum that serves many functions - all about cpap ---- support for newbies, help finding and using software, interchange of ideas on machines, masks, and more.

We have site moderators. We don't need self appointed others. To bring up a thread from last week, we don't need these self appointed newbie "cops / moderators" accusing others of hijacking threads when the other person wants the same or related information.

I have no problem with what the OP asked for. As Cindy mentioned, it has been done all the time. I guess I keep hearing both at home and on line, "if It ain't broke, then don't fix it" I feel this applies to the current "non-policy" which allows trades of mask parts and more.

It is like we are all in here together, some of us may lack basic social skills, but we have the same end goal which is better XPAP treatment.

This forum has minimal, if any, censorship. I haven't seen "real" moderators here put down others but do see these self appointed ones attempting it.

We have people with all kinds of expertise who share what they know freely. One is allowed to freely speech about all aspects of XPAP treatment including taking control of your treatment, and that is what makes it a giant step above apneasupport.org.

It's perfectly all right, as far as I know, to offer to trade, swap, give away, or even sell cpap stuff right here in a post on the message board.

If selling, it's "nicer" to do that on cpapauction.com (sponsored by the same folks -- the owners of cpap.com -- who sponsor this message board.)

But trading/swapping -- sure, a post about that is fine. And, as Jules said, an occasional offer-to-sell...sure.

"Support" has many facets. One of them can certainly be offering to trade something we don't need, in case someone else could use it. Better than having it just thrown away or tossed in a drawer.

IMHO, every post I've read by Capri has been negative to the thread he's posting on.

Consider that he's probably new to therapy and very cranky and don't pay him any mind.

LOL,

Babs,

I hope you don't expect me to protect you from the big bullies.

He isn't new to therapy - he is NOW "being" compliant probably years after he should have been.

Let him join ASAA and play their game. He will like it there. However, they do allow you to post trades not sell I believe.

And in that light, I'm looking for someone who wants to swap my Remstar Auto-CFLEX for a ResMed Adapt SV?

Any takers?

Wow, and here I thought they'd be jumping at the chance.

Liam, who did a search for "sites for swapping" on google, but isn't sure what he found was what you're looking for.

When you get that swap done, pm me the name of the "sucker". I got an old Remstar Choice LX I would like to trade for Remstar APAP with cflex. It does come complete with a power cord.

Wow, delux model! Based on another thread around here recently, apparently those power cords are hard to come by!

Liam, whose Remstar Auto also comes with two heated humidifiers. NOW how much would you pay?

An Impossible Trade for Aunt Weeza

Post by -SWS » Thu Mar 13, 2008 7:47 pm

I suppose this is as good a thread as any to submit my Aunt Weeza's second desperate plea. She somehow ended up with a brand spanking new Resmed Adapt SV. But it came bundled with one of those cursed power cords, which means the machine is essentially useless to her.

She was irrationally hoping to trade for a Remstar Auto-CFLEX or even one of those vintage Remstar Choice LX machines. I told her no way!!! She's never going to find anyone in their right mind who would consider parting with one of those classic masterpieces. It's just not going to happen... at least not the ones that are unencumbered of those counterproductive power cords.

Machine procurement is never easy for loved ones! .

Lets see - my old machine uses a standard computer power supply cord

and I have no use for a heated humidifier - that would mean I would have to find distilled water --------
