Are you on Cpap? For how long? Have you never asked about or been told the most basic info about your therapy? Either your MD is terrible, or something's very wrong...

AHI - Apnea hypopnea index... the number which can determine how well or not you're doing on Cpap.

I'm not sure what my AHI was from my sleep study (long time ago), but the first night I got my ResMed S10 and a new mask that leaked all night, my AHI was 60. I would assume I got some treatment benefit even with a leaky mask. Got my mask leak resolved with a different mask. Now I average below 1 every night. I've gotten the magical 0.0 AHI one night only about a month ago. Sleepyhead displays a smiley face when you get 0.

Average AHI since getting my ResMed machine Aug 2007 has been 0.1. I rarely have sleep sessions with AHI higher than 0.3 and when I do I am exhausted the next day. Had shoulder problems that required back sleeping while the several months when they healed and my AHI quadrupled; I was very happy to start getting good sleep when they finally okayed my side sleeping as I am 100% side sleeper. I have not intentionally gone to sleep without my equipment since day 1. Severe OSA. In sleep study, I desatted to 83% with 100% hypops, no REM sleep, only a few mins in Stage 2 rest all Stage 1 (brain too wired to let me get into deeper sleep).

Minerva,
Thanks for reviving this thread. I had not seen it before. My average AHI is 7-8, which sucks. Been on cpap for 3 years plus now and it is essential, but I have problems with my nose filling up which causes me to mouthbreathe and thus wake up. Rarely get more than 6 hours and for days have been running in the 5 hour range. Going back to bed to try to get some more sleep now, but really enjoyed seeing the poll.

Thanks
