If you are in this area, it may be worth your time. I am NOT an Employee of the hospital nor have I never been to this support groups meeting - I am therefore not endorsing it nor can I answer any questions about it.

Below is a cut/paste from a flyer found at Griffin Hospital Sleep Center - provided for your information ONLY. Mark your calendar, hope to see you there.

With Gumby and Baitman there, no one will need coffee as everyone will be wide awake watching the fireworks between these two guys.

Our feature speaker will be from J and L Medical Services.

Is that a local DME?

If so, I wish one or both of you -- Gumby or Baitman -- would ask these questions:

"What is an auto-titrating CPAP machine?"

After the J and L person explains what it is.... ask --

"Can an autopap be set to operate just in cpap mode at a single pressure?"

If the answer is "yes"... then ask --

"Is an auto-titrating CPAP machine billed with the same HCPS billing code E0601 as a plain cpap machine?"

If the answer is "yes"...then ask --

"If a doctor's prescription is for 'cpap at 10 cm H20' would an autopap set for cpap mode at a pressure of 10 fill that prescription?"

If the answer is "no" anywhere along the line....well, let us know how it goes. The J and L person might be the one who needs coffee.

They are the local DME my PCP referred me too following my sleep study, this time, last yr - saying he had good luck w/them. I called their # many times- seems they have better hours than many banks here. Finally left a voicemale, including my Ins., my home phone, etc. They never EVER got back to me because I had Cigna and they don't take Cigna.

At some point later, when I had figured all this out and after Apria had become my DME and then my Ins. changed - I stopped by their location, to see personally what goes on. Well they are behind a locked door - you have to ring a bell, even during business hours. I went in - told them I was DME shopping and then let them know I had already contacted them once but they never returned my call but I was in the market for another DME. Asked a few more Q?'s then left.

So RG the answer to your Q? is - YES.

Bait will either have to ask these Q?'s or hold me back - your call Baitman.

Yes, I already told Carol.

Oh. Well, right there was the problem. If you'd left a voicefemale, I'll bet they'd have gotten right back to you!

And if only "I" could - well who knows where I'd be today?
English can be such a difficult language

I may try to get over there as well. I went to one of their meetings last summer, but it happened that the one I dropped in on was their annual picnic or something like that. No speaker, and everyone had brought a dish to share but me. It was kind of uncomfortable, but the folks I did talk with were very nice. I've been meaning to go back again; just been too busy.

We should have some kind of cpaptalk secret handshake or some way of knowing each other! Would sure make me feel more comfortable in a room full of strangers if I knew there was someone I "knew" there.

I'll be the shy timid one. We'll have to think of a sign & counter-sign. But yea, would be good to meet some folks from here.
