It's time for cpap haiku
It's time for cpap haiku
You've read the advice, you've sang the song. Now it's the all new, officially certified, cpap haiku contest! The only rule is 5,7,5.
Strange thing strapped on me
Leak, hiss, discomfort and then
I wake I feel better
The DME said
This will cost 900 bucks
I paid sheepishly
I met them all here
Liam, Linda, Rested, Mike
Wader writes the most
J'aime mon cpap
Elle est mon aimee a soir
embetante BJ
Looking forward to my 50th post party.

Re: It's time for cpap haiku
OK, I'll bite. What does this mean? Hmmm?
Thanks for the 5,7,5 rule explanation. I don't know a haiku from a yoohoo.

Ready to party and sing

It sounds so much better in French:
I like my cpap
She is my friend at night
annoying BJ

Having cake and drink
Telling us all what he thinks
And speaking fine french
Singing for our fun
Giving us all more than one
heck of a good time
Then onto more chat
And we all know where he's at
Onward one hundred!
.....How's them apples?
Linda,

CPAP Haiku
Breathing with machine
Better than no breath at all
Sleep deep through the night

Sleep deep through the night

Re: CPAP Haiku
Expanding on snork1's:
Exhausted was I
Falling asleep all the time
Snoring bad all night
Snorting and tossing
Why can't I sleep through the night?
Sleep but not rested
Exhausted by day
Fitful sleep during the night
Can't ever seem right
Sleep all through the day
Behind the wheel, at the job
Nap any old time
So I go to the doc
Doc, tell me what have I got?
I feel like I'm dead
So, guess what he said!
Bet you have sleep apnea
It's why you can't breathe
You should get tested
Was what the doctor told me
Goodness, what is this?
So soon off I go
To a sleep study center
For a night of fun
With wires on my head
Wires from my head to my foot
God how dumb I look
So bundled with wires
Put to bed and told to sleep
Got to be kidding
So try as I might
To sleep like this through the night
What a frightful sight
If that weren't enough
They put a mask on my face
Then say I should sleep
[more to follow, hopefully]
Breathing with machine
Better than no breath at all
Sleep deep through the night

Linda, you really have a creative streak! I was looking for you on the "once again for the newbies" thread to see what you do. But whatever it is, I hope writing is a part of it.
Look in the mirror
What a dashiing hunk I am
Then I put it on
These nasal pillows
and straps all over the place
just for fun, a hose
Like a sea diver
Or a jet fighter pilot
without the glamour
Adjust leak can't sleep
pull strap turn pillows again
take a valium
Lose weight said my doc
It's easier said than done
He could lose it too

Thank you for the vote of confidence. After reading your post here, I did go and add to that topic, I had missed seeing it.BuffaloAl wrote:Linda, you really have a creative streak! But sadly writing isn't part of what I do for a living. With my "hobby" I've written some, although I didn't discuss it much on that other topic. That is, if you can call writing about burial sites writing. I did a project documenting little-known burial sites in a two county area. But I did more than locate the burial sites, I recorded the info on the markers, and I did research into the history of the area and the burial grounds, black Civil War soldiers, early undertakers and more. It was an odd hobby. But I found it was one of the quickest ways of learning the local history of areas I didn't know much about.
It's only been late in life when I've found what I'd truly like to do, but I can't find away to do it, and I don't have the credentials. I would love to teach research and writing at a college, and continue the research and writing projects I loved doing. (or do these things in conjunction with that cultural center/museum, if they could only afford to pay me) I'm not African American, but I love to work at documenting the types of history which are the least-documented, such as the history of any local minority group. I just love conducting oral history interviews and learning from all kinds of different people. African American, native American, Chinese and Japanese Americans, and a few others -- so little is documented about this history, which makes it rewarding uncovering some new information and teaching it to others. Local people history is so very interesting to me. Your history is every bit as important as mine or that of any famous figure in our history, because you, like everyone else, are a part of this country. These voices need to be heard, and taught to others.
End of soap box.
Remember, you asked.
Linda
P.S. The poetry thing is kinda new, mostly thanks to you, BTW.
