HOW MANY "CPAPERS" IN US?

Post by packer » Tue Oct 09, 2007 7:02 am

I am curious as to our numbers-- also trend

how rapidly is this field expanding??

I hope we can begin to realize as a community we do have strength-
that DME's and insurance need to realize there are a lot of us

strength in numbers?? packer

TWO

We need to set some "Rules" to define.

We need the numbers who are in the closet.

We also need the number of CPAPs that are in the closet.

I have one out of the closet, and two still in the closet.

Almost 50% of the CPAPs out there are in the closet, unused. Jim

I have used different machines over last year

but not with much success until this forum-

switching DMEs-- then calling my doc-- then calling my insurance to tell them how they were getting ripped off and I wasnt getting helped etc-

I bet I spent 3 hours [ in retrospect not much time is it?]
on phone - going from 1 person to another-
ended up at the insurance company "complaint" [ I forget the politically correct name] department
anyhow-- at least to some degree, to make me go away and leave them alone

I ended up with new aflex [ bought instead of rented]

things have been about 3 times easier since then-

but the deal is this-- if I had not been so persistent- I would still have old
cheap blower and full face mask- they would be in closet and I would be snoring and not sleeping

my point is-- I think this field is getting bigger and bigger as boomers get older= boomers seem to get things done in insurance world-- how small of a group are we?? are ther 100,000 CPAPS or 1,000,000 I have no idea

I don't know how many CPAPers there are but I certainly hope they don't find this website. Bad for business.
