Quality of F20 headgear velcro

Post by auspap » Sat Jan 20, 2024 10:23 pm

Has anyone else started noticing that the F20 headgear has been losing its quality lately? I have patients who come in nearly every 8 months to purchase a new headgear strap... and for the retail price it is purchased at, it is quite steep.

Would love to hear anyone else's opinion on this issue

I don't know about "lately", but I can get two - three cushion replacement cycles on a headgear.

Just a thought, but the hook side of "velcro" tends to catch lint fibers,
eventually fouling the fastener.
About the easiest thing to remove the fuzz is a fine wire brush.
Preferably brass.
I used this strategy to restore the fasteners on kids' shoes and outerwear.

I use a different FF mask, bu I have never had to change my headgear, Once adjusted to my face, I don't have a reason to open the velcro straps. I remember doing it once or twice to get it adjusted prperly...but thats it.

I used a pair of safety pins after the velcro died'. I put some tape over the pins to make sure they didn't come off in the night. and some fuzzy covers over the tape!

Then on a new headgear I tried the safety pin idea right from the start, thinking it would save the strain on the velcro. But at the start you need to adjust more frequently. Anyway, I have given up that idea, but would welcome comments.
