I broke my nose!

Post by Janknitz » Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:26 pm

I broke my nose this morning. (I tripped and fell on my face).

Now trying to figure out if I can rig something up for cpap tonight. I can’t do my dreamwear or nasal pillows because I’m still bleeding a bit inside my nostrils and I busted my upper lip inside too so it’s too sore to have the frame against it. I can’t really breathe through my nose. But the bridge of my nose is swollen and there’s a laceration just below it they had to glue together.

I think I can use the Quattro if I can seal it with some padding around my nose. Going to be an interesting night!

oh wow, yeah, I'd say a FFM if you can make it work. I hope it heals up soon!

Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I have wondered what I'd do in such a situation like if I forgot my mask on a trip. In my imagination I put the end of the the small hose in my mouth and taped it and my nose up, making it an oral mask. Wonder if anyone has ever successfully done that.

I made it half a night with the FF mask. It hurt, but I was already in pain. But it did help me start breathing through my nose. So I braved the DreamWear and made it through the rest of the night but it did leak a lot because I couldn’t tighten it fully. Lying in my side helped to stop the leak.

Miserable night and I’m very sore in odd spots today.

I need to locate my small Fitlife, because I am getting clumsy in my old age.
I hate the mask, and have never used it for a full night,
but it doesn't come anywhere near the nose.

Omg! I'm so sorry and hope you heal in a hurry!

Maybe you got a new nose out of this (altho you prob didn't need one)... just trying to make you smile a bit.

I give you full credit; doubt that I would have been able to wear any mask if this happened to me.

Thank you for all the good wishes. I think my ego hurts more than my nose. What an embarrassing injury!!!

I guess the good thing about breaking your nose is you don't have to move it around very much. So the pain is only present occasionally, when I wrinkle my nose, scratch it, or sneeze (OMG, the sneeze was pretty awful!!!). I have very minor injuries to two fingers from the fall, and those bother me way more because I use my hands constantly.

Years ago my Aunt saw her two year old floundering in their pool. She went flying out to get him not paying attention to the sliding glass door that was between them. Two year old was fine. She shattered the door and broke her nose. She ended up with a much better nose since she had to have surgery. Then immediately after had a tall fence with a lock installed around the pool.

Some insurance companies will not insure your home without such a barrier.

Definitely true... but this was long before it was a requirement.
