Forum posts doing something weird

Post by Pugsy » Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:21 pm

Anyone else having issues when they post?
Specifically you get the message "someone has posted something since you started composing" "do you want to edit your response"...and the person who posted was yourself?
It wants to keep double posting my replies.

Is anyone else seeing this happen? I have seen a few people obviously have double posts of the same thing. I try to clean them up when I see them but this has been going on for 3 days now for me. Also getting some weird SQL error pages so I am wondering if the forum software is acting up again. Sometimes this happens right before a big blow up and things go down.

So has anyone else had weird stuff happen with the forum software? Weird errors or double posts when you know you didn't hit the submit button twice or are you seeing yourself being the "someone else has posted"???

Something just isn't right and I can't put my finger on it and unfortunately I have absolutely nothing to do with the forum software working end of things.

I get in an endless loop.

Sigh....guess I will go clear out all the board cookies and see if that fixes it.

I agree with the slow part. I first noticed it two or three days ago. Sometimes it seems more like DSL than a high speed cable system.

sounds like the forum software is out of date. *scrolls to bottom of page* Last update in 2017, which might be the reason.

Yes, me... a few nights ago. Same thing. When I got that message I didn't post my reply. But, when I looked to see the "post", there was no other post??

Also, I agree with the others, it's been slow.

I am starting to see double new topics. When I see them I will remove one as a duplicate post. Just saw it happen. So it's not just me.

Anyway...if you see same thing posted twice as a new topic just ignore one of them and don't mention it to the poster because they didn't do it on purpose. I will clean it up when/if it happens.

Apparently whatever the problem is with the forum software it manifests itself in different ways to different people.
I am not having any particular slow issues but everything I do gets doubled.
Even when I delete the duplicate I end up getting a message "the post doesn't exist" so it gets deleted and the it tries to delete again (double action) without my doing anything.

Maybe the forum software is haunted.

I've seen the forum failing to load with "SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]" several times over the last few days.
