Bringing machine with to appointment

Post by mamad7 » Fri Jan 17, 2020 4:33 pm

So I have been using my machine for a month and 10 days - so essentially a month and a half. I am supposed to go see my sleep specialist on the 27th (the appointment got moved from the 21st). When I got my automated call about my appointment, prior to them rescheduling it, they said I needed to bring my machine, SD card and I think they said the data. Here is where I am super confused - 1, I don't even know if my machine has an SD card? If it doesn't and it NEEDS it, I sure as heck was not told to purchase an SD card. 2 - What exactly is the point of bringing the machine with???. 3 - I just use the my air app. I know there is a lot of flack about the my air app, but when I tried looking into the other one that is recommended - I completely forgot what it is called off the top of my head - it made zero sense inregards to setting up so I said screw it. So is it common to bring the machine with to the appointments to speak with your sleep specialist????

Open the little door on the left side of the machine that is labeled SD. If there is a card bring it with you to the doctor. With the card, I don't know why you would need the machine. The MyAir app is useless...the doctor does not see that...Only you see it.

Just FYI, My doctor sees it. He had a print out with all my numbers and trends on it.

I don't know exactly what they use, MyAir or something else, but I know that the ONE time I went back to my sleep doc's office, they were able to see my compliance info and numbers. They downloaded them OTA from the machine. My DME is also able to download info for compliance to get approval for my supplies. My previous insurance company required it every three months, each time I ordered my Bleep DreamPorts. I never took my machine in. Although I DID take in my computer to try to discuss my Sleepyhead info. Doc's office wasn't interested. "your numbers look good, so you're doing fine." Um, no, I was still waking up multiple times per night, still tired, having trouble going back to sleep. She didn't want to hear it. DME thought it was really cool and wanted to know more.

Even if your machine does not have an SD card in it, the doctor can still retrieve some data from it. He will be able to see if you have been using it and what your AHI has been.

The MyAir does not give the doctor the data he/she needs to make a decision on any adjustments that are needed. The print out he gets has much more meaningful data.

If there is no SD card, you can buy one inexpensively. I don't know who told you not to buy one, but I would ignore that instruction.

Assuming that your machine is like mine, it keeps several months worth of date internally, even if no card is in it. That data will load to a new card when you insert it.

If the dealer "left" the card out . . .
Let the doctor discover it ---and make a phone call.
Nothing makes a DME sweat like an angry doctor.
Let the fur fly.

When I first started, I was told to bring the machine, in case they wanted to make any changes to the settings. I think a lot of them do that remotely now. My machine did not have a modem. They used the card to download the data, and there was no need to make any changes.

Ok. Guess I still don't understand. If the doctor gets Airview with your numbers and compliance why would he need the sd card also?

i'd suppose that the airview software reads data from the sd card???

The machine sends *most* of the data to the Resmed servers, then you pull down a tiny bit with MyAir, doctors/DMEs can pull down all the data that's sent with AirView, but if your doctor wants the SD card, either they're not doing that, or they want the data that isn't sent, which is the flow rate data and the mask pressure data... the two high rate (25 times a second) data streams.

Or, some other reason... ask 'em. :)

The info that not all the data is uploaded via cell modem came from one of the sleep doctors that's been here now and then.

I don't *think* so... they'd use Resscan for that.
