Amara View - Magnetic Clips?

Post by baseball » Tue Aug 06, 2019 5:32 pm

My wife got started CPAP therapy last summer, and has gone thru a bunch of cushions but the last headgear/new mask set she got a few months ago still had the plastic snap clips.

I saw on the Philips website something about magnetic clips (I guess to be more like the Resmed F20/F30). Do the newer Amara View models come with magnetic clips? Is it something they are changing in the production run? Is this something she could ask her DME about?

It does appear to be a new offering but you may have to request that particular package specifically because suppliers are going to want to move old inventory first.

I do not know if it is yet available to suppliers either. Sometimes these announcements come out quite a bit ahead of actual product release.

I bought two sets of the Amara View headgear in June from Amazon at this link: Amara View Headgear, Standard Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JAPLCMU/re ... sDb5M1W01E

They're the new version with the mag clips.

did it come with 4 pieces then?

I.E. The one that attaches to the frame, and then one that attaches to the cloth/elastic headgear? (x 2 for left/right sides?)

In other words, I might be able to simply order the headgear and not the whole mask/frame assembly...she would really like that I think

Ok, we will see what arrives.

Apparently this is really new--I emailed a couple of online shops and they had never heard of it and we were really nice, or thought I was completely wrong about it. Even the Philips website says "limited availability", so we'll see if they promote it as a big selling point in the future.

I have an implanted cardiac pacemaker, and was strongly advised not to use magnetic clips. My pacemaker supplier is concerned that the close magnetic field may upset the pacemaker settings.
Admittedly, magnetic clips might be more convenient than the Res-Med snap fit clips that I now have., but I certainly will not tempt the fates by trying them.

Arrived. Outside of box shows headgear with old clips, but inside was original style headgear with the new magnetic clips.

I have arthritis in fingers and it probably took me a minute to unhook one side of the view mask so I could wipe my mouth . another member was kind enough to send me the new headgear with the magnetic clips . what a difference ?

It shouldn't need any tape on the clips, it's designed to kinda float and adjust as needed, I think you just need a little time to adjust to the magnets instead of snapping off the clip.

your probably right , as I have arthritic fingers and middle of the night , I probably pulled where I shouldn't have . they do make a real difference if you want to remove mask though and thank you again for sending to me .
