I know ResMed have 5 years warranty. Check with the manufacture warranty first, then your insurance. My insurance will give a new one if the machine over 5 years.

Respiratory Therapist often lie...or simply don't know all the answers. Don't believe everything they tell you.

NOT TRUE.
Only Devillbiss Intellipap has ever had a 5 year warranty, and then only some models.
Most others have but a 2 year warranty, but it is between manufacturer and the DME.
Time spent in storage at the DME is subtracted from the warranty period.

Those pesky insurance variables. At one time I was told by my insurance that replacement rules apply only to machines they paid for, and they would replace a machine it paid for only when it becomes nonfunctional, even if it is after 5 years. Since my diagnosis going on 15 years ago I've had 3 different insurances. If it is a different provider than the one who covered the prior machine, I would think it's irrelevant how long you've had it or even if it works.

If you live in the US and have Obamacare compliant health insurance, you should be eligible for a new machine, since it appears that your old one is at least five years old and is not working. Depending on which state you live in, you might need a prescription that is more recent than the one for your current machine.

Guess what guys? It wasn't at all what I thought. Going out with Hubby for breakfast. Then I'll explain what happened.

Like I said in the previous comment, everything is AOK with the CPAP! Whoo Hoo!!!
For whatever reason, I replugged the CPAP into the wall again. When I did, small sparks started to fly to which I immediately disconnected the cord from the wall socket. What I discovered is that some wire was exposed causing the CPAP to be inoperable. The cord that went directly to the CPAP was the one that was damaged. Once I replaced that part of the cord from my Dad's CPAP (now deceased in 2016), my CPAP sprung into action. Thanks Pops!

DH , Obamacare compliant health care In the US does not necessarily pay for a machine. It depends on your deductiable and your coverage.

If your health insurance will pay for a new machine, I suggested that you get a more recent vintage machine. Keep the old one on hand as a spare. Run it for a few hours once a month or so just to make sure it's in good working condition.

My Resmed airsense10 died while I was asleep. I managed to push the pillows out of my nose and woke up a little while later. Unplugged and replugged everything and the light in.the on off button does not come on. Nothing. 30 minute on hold for the DME. Cannot have the tech appointment till Thursday. They say the warranty expired last year, which seems like a 2 year warranty not 5 years. Is it worth trying to reach out to Resmed?

Where are you located? ResMed only warranties their machines for 2 years in the USA as a general rule but sometimes if someone buys the ResMed machines in other parts of the world the suppliers will add extended warranty coverage up to the 5 year thing but ResMed isn't necessarily part of that extended warranty.

If you can even reach ResMed they are going to tell you to contact whomever sold you the machine.
