Airsense 10 autoset

Post by Gerryk » Thu Apr 25, 2019 5:52 pm

Qith my old machine I only ran low or out of water if I had a major leak. However with the new machine I am
Always nearly out of water and had it go dry twice in the month I have had it. My leak rate is very low and I am using the machine with the heated hose and set to auto for the climate control.
Anyone else qith this machine run into this?

nope. using the same machine (except the "for her" part) and this hasn't happened.

even here in the high desert of flagstaff az, with low humidity, i manage to not run out of water, unless i forget to put water in before bed time.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Are you using the auto feature or setting the hose temp and humidity level?

I use 3/4 to a full tank every night. I set my humidity and hose temp manually.

I was thinking of trying to set it manually but wanted to try the auto setting first.

There is no point in comparing water usage.

It will be influenced by:
  • relative humidity,
  • ambient temperature,
  • humidity settings,
  • leaks,
  • pressure,
  • volume of air passed through system.
Comparisons between people who with vastly different environments has little value.

If you're using more water on your new system than your previous system, the likely cause is higher humidification settings, which aren't directly comparable because the AirSense 10 has a different scale (0-8) that the S9 (0-6).

If you are running out of water with Climate Control on Auto, turn off Auto and manually set the humidity to a notch lower. Find a good median between humidity comfort and water use.

Measure the humidity in your room, it's likely low, which forces the machine to use it's water quicker.

IF that is the case, buying a humidifier for that room might be worth the cost and effort. I have one here,
and haven't had the machine run dry since I got the humidifier.

The humidity in my room is lower than I like it but I do like it higher. I was asking if athers had noticed this machine using more because of the heated hose and auto. I am waking up dry but the humidity in my room is around 50%

could you do me a favor, please? if you think of it, use the quote feature. i'm taking it that what you said was directed at me, but then, i like to think i'm the center of the universe.

me, i've used the machine i'm currently using both ways. when i lived in washington state, there was plenty of humidity so i kept it on auto and that worked well.

now that i'm in flagstaff, with it's generally dry (but sill quite variable) humidity, i'm doing it manual.

and both places, i've used the heated tube. that may change with summer coming. so i'll prolly go back to the non heated tube. dunno, really. will worry about it when the time comes.

oh and i'm not using a room humidifier either.

different strokes for different folks.

I hope using quotes works. The humidity in my room is now43%. I wish the machine had an option to use auto with temp turned down on hose. I could always go back to non heated hose with a cover on it.

Let’s see if I did the quotes correct.

spot on, as the kids say.

(kids don't say that)

right now, room humidity here is 27%.

you gotta do what works for you.

It has that option.
I know for a fact because I have used it that way in the past.

I will take some time and work through the menu. I understood it was either auto or manual. Auto with the hose temp turned down would work better.

I had the same issue - I followed someone else’s instructions and built a DIY tank expansion:

viewtopic/t173690/DIY-larger-humidifier ... se-10.html

Have been using it since last November nightly - working great. It’s pretty easy to build, and if you mess up worst case you sacrifice a tank (I think it was like $20-$25).
