Cat bites climateline hose while I sleep

Post by Cpapissuegirl » Sun Apr 14, 2019 8:30 am

My cat has recently started biting my hose to wake me up. Does anyone know a hose cover to help prevent this. I have tried spraying bitters on the hose to no avail. Taping the hose makes it stiff. She is a 14 year old cat and I don’t want to make her sleep elsewhere at this point. Thanks!

I had a cat that liked to chew on the telephone wires ( yes at one time phones were wired into the walls etc.)

I was constantly picking up the phone to makes a call and getting no dial tone ( no service for you young ones)

I put hot sauce on the wires and he got the message.....

Corrugated wire loom covering works well. It is light and has a slit down the side so it can be put on the hose easily. It is available in many auto supply stores. They sell it by the foot and reel off the lenght you want. I have used it on oxygen hose, wiring from accessories to a TV and computer. It comes in a lot of sizes (diameters)

Training the cat to bite the hose would probably work better

I've heard from a number of cat people that if they just put a cloth cover on the hose, the cats *usually* lose interest.

Some cats hate stepping on bubble wrap.
This can be used to spare leather furniture.
Maybe cpap hose.

Try a hose cover. The hose covers made by metsfan302 are pretty thick and would probably solve your problem. He is selling them here on the forum, again.

My cat likes to exercise her claws on plastic. She especially loves the popping it makes  I sewed some thick microfleece as hose covers -- she is no longer interested in my hose.

Try wrapping it in aluminum foil.
I really recommend against that.
Wrapping the cat in foil is extremely difficult! The cat refuses to stay still, and since he has claws, I got a lot of scratches.
It sounded like a good idea, but ... no.

not only that, but it eliminates any microwave warming.

You can microwave things in foil... if you want a lightning show.

CDs are fun too... about 2 seconds on high.
