So-Clean Sterilizer

Post by jwoceanside » Fri Jan 04, 2019 11:35 am

Has anyone purchased this sterilizer. If so, any thoughts. Is it worth $320.00.

Well.....
I have known about the SoClean since I started therapy some 9 plus years ago and I still don't own one.
Does that give you an inclination about my thoughts on it?
I wouldn't want one if someone gave it to me for free...I don't see the need at all.

BUT....I don't like people telling me what to spend my money on...so I don't go telling them what to spend their money on.
I am just kinda that way. It's your money and your peace of mind and you are a grown up and I assume have the ability to spend your money on whatever you wish.

Cleaning to me means removing snot, slobber, grime, dirt in some fashion. Soap and water kind of cleaning.
SoClean removes nothing.
At best it "sanitizes" stuff if we are to believe their propaganda ...which I would want to see independent confirmation from someone without a financial interest in the company before I would even believe it.
So you end up with maybe sanitized snot, slobber, dirt and grime on your stuff...if you are happy with that and want to spend your hard earned money on that....it's your money and not my job to dictate how you spend it.
Hell...even SoClean tells you that you still have to wash your gear and they gladly will sell you a high priced cleaner to do the washing with.

And the germs they supposedly kill....guess how they got on your equipment in the first place....think about it...they came off you and are already everywhere in your house.

My biggest gripe with them was an ad I saw where they said they sanitized the air you breathe through your machine.
That's impossible....you aren't supposed to use the machine and breathe the ozone...it's bad for you.
Once you no longer have ozone going through things...the air you breathe is the same unsanitized air you breathe all day long anyway.
Ozone is dangerous...that's why they say don't use the machine for at least 2 hours after it has done its thing.

It's not a "sterilizer" it *claims* to sanitize, it doesn't.

It's a waste of money, preying on the fears of ignorant people, using scare tactics to make sales.

It's despicable.

Also, read LSAT's link. it's excellent.

Oh, you know it will.

I don't know why socrap hasn't given up sending people here.

They must be firm believers in the old adage "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

Absolutely NOT!
Even in the manufacturer's instruction manuals, it says you need to pre-wash all of the equipment first.

From one of the manuals:

1. Pre-washing your PAP Equipment
Use two capfuls of the included pre-wash
with a gallon of water to wash your PAP
equipment (mask, hose, and reservoir), then
rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Note: The SoClean 2 uses no fluids in its
operation. The pre-wash is supplied for
hand washing your PAP equipment only.
DO NOT immerse your SoClean in water.

Then, periodically (about every 6 months) you need to purchase/replace various parts in the machine.

$30.00 - NOT CHEAP!

Check Valve
REPLACE EVERY 6 MONTHS,
OR WHEN THE SOCLEAN
DISPLAY SHOWS THE “ORDER
FILTER KIT” MESSAGE.

Cartridge Filter
REPLACE EVERY 6 MONTHS,
OR WHEN THE SOCLEAN
DISPLAY SHOWS THE “ORDER
FILTER KIT” MESSAGE.

You won't find many supporters of those machines here.

The only thing it "cleans" is your checkbook. You could buy lots of Dawn dishwashing liquid for the costs of those things.

Yes, definitely: Hearing our thoughts is worth at least $320.00. So you just go ahead and send us that money, please.

I hear the new units are coming out with a new revised owners manual, at the bottom of the last page, they add the word Sucker!, in Red Bold letters. They are a bargain at any price, because our money is worth less every day. Jim

This is another great option if you like the So-Clean concept.
('m told it's definitely worth it to get the slightly upgraded version with the bell.)

Note: Be sure to thoroughly wash mask with soap and water before ritual sterilization.

Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.

Baby shampoo is all you need. Swish, rinse and air dry.

It ain't rocket surgery...

I'm pretty sure that's illegal in all states unless you are a doctor/vet.
