Growing up in the 50's are my best memories of Christmas. My parents were in their late 20's My Dad had three sisters and Aunt Betty was the youngest and wildest. He loved them very much and they would always come in from out of town at Christmas. Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins all at our house on Christmas eve and everyone having so much fun celebrating.
My favorite memories of those times were not knowing what I would find under the tree the next morning, all us kids popping firecrackers, and aunt Betty getting drunk enough to table dance while I stood there in awe looking up her skirt. I would glance over at my Dad to see if I was in trouble, but he always had a big grin and looking at her with pride, I compared the look to same as if I had just made a touchdown. Every year I could count on Aunt Betty to liven up the party in our garage and give me memories of her I will never forget.

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year.
Well, while we are reminiscing childhood Christmases, I grew up in the '30s during The Great Depression. My Dad had a job and we always had a roof over our heads and food on the table. Some didn't. One Christmas the only gift I received was an orange. But I value those years because I learned how to be selfreliant. That helped tremendously later while I was in two wars and a career in high-tech industry.

This years was a tough one. I had to say goodbye to my wonderful wife of 66 years. An elegant woman. Dynamic, but not pushy. Of deep character, but not stuffy in her relations with others. Outgoing but not domineering. Sharing and caring. I was more fortunate than most.

Let's hope next year is a better one.
