I find this very worrying. I would love more info.
I've been wearing many different cpap masks for five years and have spent a fortune on my teeth. I now have a considerable amount of bone loss, 40%+. As a result I have had several infections and have had several teeth extracted (after having root canal and crowns on them). The bone loss is getting worse, I'm beside myself. I have to see a prosthodontist. I know I have to use the cpap therapy but at what cost? They don't tell you this when you start the therapy. Good Luck to you.
If he didn't get it corrected in the LAST 11 YEARS, I'll bet his hat sits on his shoulders by now. Jim

Hi dmkl,

Cpap most likely has nothing to do with bone loss as it is the tooth extractions that accelerate it. Do a google search.

The way I could see it indirectly relating to bone loss is that it can cause dryness of the mouth which leads to dental decay if that is not addressed. In a worst case scenario, that could lead to teeth being extracted. But that would seem like quite a leap to me.

Have you seen a doctor about the bone loss?

MASK FIT
When a mask causes harm, you try a different model.
Bone loss is a different matter, probably requiring a specialist.
Phosphoric acid causes calcium to be expelled through the kidneys,
instead of being used to rebuild bone.
Avoid it.

dmkl, the reasons for your bone losses are the extractions of teeth. The most common cause of bone loss is tooth loss left unreplaced, especially multiple teeth. Jawbone is preserved through the pressure and stimulus of chewing. When that is removed through tooth loss, the bone “resorbs” (reabsorbs) into the body. So please don't blame the CPAP masks.
