tongue seal

How long did it take people to learn the tongue seal to avoid air leaking from lips? And how did you practice?

Seven years, and I could never get that old dog trained. I nose breathe twenty-four hours a day. Luckily, I’m comfortable taping up for my cpap therapy. Good luck, Earl

Sometimes it needs no conscious effort.
Just relax and let your body make friends with your cpap.

If my tape comes loose, during the most unconscious period of my day (i.e., while asleep), I’m awakened by the leaks and cotton mouth.

@Scharzie, I’m not trying to discourage you, and YMMV. I feel that I’m one of the minority.

I am an incorrigible mouth breather, but only when I sleep. Now five months into therapy, I have given up on learning to keep my mouth closed, chin up, or tongue help up toward my palate. I tape, and feel comfortable doing so.

For me, I must tear the tape so that it is long enough to extend at least one full cm past the corners of my mouth. I find that if I blow out my cheeks with lips pursed a bit, much like what happens while I sleep with the tape in place, the tape applied that way is much less likely to want to come loose or leak at the edges.

It's a living. Or, a-living.

I worked on it for a few days by making sure the tongue was in the right spot if I wasn't eating or talking. It took a bit of conscious effort, but to my utter surprise it WORKED. It's now habit and I do it all night, too.
