Aside from whether or not it caused the OP's cancer, I am very surprised that our machines don't turn off the heating unit when there is no water left. Surely whatever that noxious smell represents isn't something we want blasted into our lungs periodically.

And to pose another theory to the OP--Perhaps the odor and issues with your humidifier saved your life, because it caused throat irritation that prompted you to see a doctor. I doubt very much that exposure of a matter of weeks could cause cancer easily detected so quickly.
Yes, "stage four cancer' doesn't happen in 'a few seeks'.

More likely, your throat cancer was caused by your underlying SDB condition, not by breathing the burning plastic from a dry reservoir.

If only all the sources of cancer were known . . .

OP - I think it makes complete sense that your cancer could be from your exposure to those toxic gasses delivered directly to your mucous membranes. Plastics contain many toxins, as you mention, and there is a lot of clear evidence for this.

As for the poster(s) making ridiculously rude comments about easy cheerleaders - you might want to consult the user agreement - user-agreement.php. This is not a men's locker room. (And I will not feed the trolls.)

Guest posting definitely outlived its intent.

So... is there something actually wrong with expressing an opinion? Politely and respectfully? However 'wrong' you might think it is? Is there no polite, respectful way to question it or must you all pile on rudely?

Hi Julie, no, there is nothing wrong with expressing an opinion. But when you derail a thread with a absolutely uncalled for remark, that in and of itself is wrong, even forgetting the content. I notice that often here. This thread is about CPAP and Throat Cancer of all things. No need for anyone to reply, I won't be responding again.

Your first post in this thread was a *stellar* example of what you're complaining about.

I was complaining about Olivia being taunted for having an opinion... seems others are rushing to read THAT wrong... can't win!

We don't really know what causes which cancers in which individuals. Even when we have a reasonable idea, we don't know why some people get it and others don't, despite seemingly comparable exposure.

That's what I thought you meant. As you know, being taunted for having an opinion which doesn't mirror yours (even if it's factually correct), is a big no no here. I saw that PR completely turned around what Mrs. Flowers meant.

To Mrs. Flowers and Olivia... take all the invaluable information here and leave the rest. For the most part, it's worth it, even if you do have to sift through the garbage.
