Okay...the darn thing won't sync with my computer or my phone.
I have tried everything I can find on the web about how to get it to sync...
Reset it etc. Make sure battery charged, etc. I go to the FitBit app and it searches and searches and searches. Worked fine until Wed.
Won't so steps, heart rate sleep or anything.
I am starting to get pissed.
Got it from Amazon..just passed the 30 day mark but I did buy the extended warranty this time (previous FitBit not the Charge model, died after about 6 months but that was a couple of years ago.)
I have been very careful with this one...no showering or getting it wet when washing dishes.

It shows stuff on the face of the watch but it won't sync so I don't know if it is recording or not.

I am about ready to go find the box in came in and send it back. Anyone with any ideas?
I have looked at the Apple website and tried what they suggest...reset, turn off bluetooth on phone, close out FitBit app, but no joy.

Delete it from your paired devices then re pair it through the app

You are talking to a dummy when it comes to this stuff...
I need you to talk down to me and tell me step by step..
I have no idea how to do what you are talking about because I don't think I ever paired it with anything and I turned BlueTooth off on the phone just in case it was interfering.
It worked fine for a month and then about 10 days ago..one night it didn't sync...but then finally did...and now it won't at all.

I don't really need it to work with my phone anyway...if I remove that app will that unpair it?

So I went to the app on my computer and attempted to remove the device and then add it again but it won't let me do anything because "sync is in progress".

I have an Android phone. Galaxy S8.
I have tried turning the phone totally off to get it out of the mix but that didn't help.
I don't have to have the app on my phone...I prefer the computer....and I have both Windows and IPad Pro but I didn't put the FitBit app on the iPad.

Try removing dongle from computer then so it can sync then remove and re add to account?

Okay..
Bluetooth on phone off.
Reset FitBit again...
Tongle removed from computer.
FitBit on and showing it is reading pulse.
Removed device from the FitBit app.
Now trying to sync by adding a new device again.
It's been syncing for 10 minutes now....no joy.
If this doesn't work it's going back to Amazon...it shouldn't be this difficult and I don't have the patience for it.

Restart your Fitbit? https://www.imore.com/how-restart-your-fitbit-tracker
I read that on a Fitbit discussion while trying to get mine to sync.
Other procedure suggested:
Turn Bluetooth on on your phine
Log out of the Fitbit app
Restart your phone
Log back in to the Fitbit app
It should start syncing.
Mine synced after I did all that, but I still don't have any sleep data from last night, even after restarting the Fitbit. These gadgets are wonderful until they're not

I don't want or need it on my phone at the present time so I simply uninstalled the app from the phone. Will worry about that later.

Then I found some instructions for Windows that not only included the unpairing but also mentioned restarting Windows and the go to the app and setup a new device and the restart of Windows seemed to have been the key because when I unpaired it without the restart it didn't work but I found something that said to also restart Windows and try again. I had already tried restarting Windows but not after unpairing from Windows.
So it found it finally.

Will see what happens tomorrow.

I actually wanted it more for monitoring pulse rate changes than the sleep thing but I figure if I pay for something I want all functionality...and I want it with minimal hassle. If it acts up again I may have all the data I want from it and I won't be bashful about sending it back because it annoyed me.

I had the same problem. Fixed it by removing the "bluetooth" from both the phone and the watch.....waited about 15 minutes; the put both "bluetooth" on the phone and watch back on. It worked but only after it download in the latest firmware. BTW if you fart you get 5 extra steps!

Got it to sync the other night...and not since then and now it won't sync again.
This shouldn't be this difficult and I am beyond annoyed.

And to top it all off my home internet is wanting to act up and I have to make a hot spot with my phone to post this reply.

The gods are against me.

The FitBit is going back.

Pugsy there are a couple of other Fitbit models that have sleep tracking....are you going to try a different one? I have never owned a Fitbit so I've been following your adventure with interest. Wish it had a better ending.

Probably not. I learned what I wanted to learn from it . I may think on it a bit though. No rush since the damn thing was fine until past the 30 day thing and now I will be in on the extended warranty contract I bought..I think anyway that the 30 day thing is gone.
I have a cold and don't feel good and my patience is next to nothing and I will look up the contract later. I did get the extended warranty though because my first FitBit crapped out at 6 months and I wasn't smart enough to get the extended warranty back then.

It worked fine for the first month...flawlessly but not now and I am in no mood to have to go through all this work. I finally got last night's data but lost Sat night...and that was only after a lot of work and I just refuse to do that much work to sync the damn thing.
