Clenaing the s10 heatedtubing with diluted vinegar

Post by feeling_better » Fri Dec 22, 2017 1:36 am

I am a bit too sensitive to all the new plastic smells of the tub, and the tubing. So even before the first use, I clean them with diluted vinegar. Has anybody seen any guidance against cleaning the heated tubes this way? I think it should be ok, since the contacts appear gold plated... Just checking for the wisdom of the group...

BTW, what I usually do with new tubing etc is to run the cpap all day, with the nasal pillows plugged with ear plugs, so it wont stop because of the excessive leaks from the open nasal pillows. This clears out the plastic smell to some extend in mind. Also this can be used for checking the actual leaks of the calibrated ports of the pillows at a given pressure setting.

A much easier way to deal with the smells is to put a drop or two of essential oil on a cotton ball, and place that near the air intake on your CPAP machine.

Hydrogen peroxide works well for my tube maintenance and leaves no smell.
Seeing and believing are often both wrong. FOW

If I smell anything funky, a shot of (very) cheap vodka in the rinse water.
One for the cpap, one for the frog.

Using diluted vinegar will not harm your equipment. After I have a bout of bronchitis, I normally soak my mask and tubing in a solution of one part vinegar to three part water. I let them soak for fifteen to twenty minutes, then rinse well and let air dry. This is the ONLY time I ever clean the tube. Normally, I just clean the mask once a week with dish soap and water, and the water tank once a month using dish soap and water.

LoBattery, How do you use the hydrogen peroxide? Just a rinse? I use it for cleaning metal jewelry.
