not sure if it's feasible, but why not just use a plastic zip lock bag as a liner?
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Hmmm....plastic bag. It could be done fairly easily I would think.
I don't think the heater plate would get hot enough to be a problem for the baggie. Would need to fix it up some how so the lid would still close and seal but I think that could be done.
Tomorrow if I feel better I may play around with it. I never did feel up to going to town today to see what WalMart or the hardware store offered in the form of some sort of product.

yeah, baggie, that's what i meant. the zip top would just be another problem. and i hadn't even considered the heating element! hell, it might just be easier to use one of the many glue solutions posted above!

anyway, keep us posted on what you come up with.....

The cost is probably greater than the replacement, but if you have an aquarium, the clear sealant for that would likely repair your water chamber. It is not tolerant of heat, but so long as the repair is above the heating pan, it should work just fine. I think you can get very small quantities of this stuff, but again, not sure if it costs too much for repair or not.

or-

sew tired? curious as i neither have fish nor install bathroom tile, but what is the difference between this aquarium sealant and caulk?

Thanks guys and gals. I haven't felt like doing anything today. This cold is kicking my ass....and it appears that I have shared it with hubby.

No rush anyway. The new spare should be here tomorrow.

I just want to try. I am that way....I like to try stuff.
Oh, I'm the same way. Better to try things now when you can do so at your leisure, so I am rootin for you.

There are products for boats or swimming pools just like the aquariums. There are also those foam type tapes used for sealing drafts in doors & windows that may make a decent gasket. Or simply some cork material depending on where and what the damage is.

I have seen the Gorilla Glue that comes in a bottle with a small brush like fingernail polish which helps when applying to a tight spot.

All the usual precautions apply but I think something like this might be helpful for someone traveling to make a temp repair to get thru a nite or two.

Crap. Just got back from WalMart and I knew I forgot something. Totally slipped my mind to go looking to see what they might have.

Hope that means you are feeling better or is it just boredom that drove you to Walmart?

No not feeling any better but had to go because I was out of food and cold medicine.
It was a fast trip just getting enough of the "have to have" stuff right now.

WOW...another name to add to the list. It would only be condesending to you. Are you ashamed to use your real registered name?
