shallow breathing does NOT mean desats or inadequate oxygen or anything abnormal
shallow breathing is not hypopnea
dont know how you get imflammation from shallow breathing
YOU are not a sleep medicine and chronic pain specialist physician.
According to my doctor, chronic pain is frequently caused or exacerbated by low oxygen. Therefore, when someone presents with chronic pain, she orders a sleep test.
In many cases, fixing sleep fixes pain. If it does not, then she looks for other causes.

Regarding "shallow breathing"...I'm sure I did not use proper terms....but it was too shallow.
1st night was pretty good. It wasn't the glorious awe inspiring difference I got in the sleep test, but it was very good. I slept well, woke up once to get up instead of 6 times. First night...still adjusting to the mask a little, but I was able to sleep in all my "normal" positions and it was pretty good. Woke up refreshed, no head ache, not feeling tired at all....the way I think you should feel normally after a full nights sleep.
Looking forward to adapting more and improving the quality.
Thanks

Congratulations on dealing with the "first night hurdle". It will get better with time and experience. It takes the body a little while to adjust to having all this stuff stuck on our face and blowing air up or nose or in our mouth.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
If you want to try the Eclipse mask and want a special promo code to get a little off the price...send me a private message.

Hypopnea is a reduction in airflow of at least 30% of pre event baseline lasting at least 10 seconds, but it is not necessarily due to a restriction. Think Central Hypopnea. Consult your expensive books again.
