AirSense 10 Autoset for Her going back to Online company

Post by Luthie2006 » Wed Oct 04, 2017 7:26 am

Good morning: I had written a post over the weekend with my struggling to breath through my lungs with my new Air Sense 10 Autset for Her.
I am not a new user to CPAP (I have an old S-9 now), and tried changing settings. I just could not exhale correctly no matter what the EPR was set to.
Is EPR of 3 easier? On this machine it is actually harder for me to breath at 3, slow and fast shallow breathing. Anyways after many arguments with them on the phone (they have an answer service ONLY), they gave me an invoice number. They said they will check it out but most likely the machine is not broken.
If there is nothing wrong with the machine, they will charge the credit card postage for sending back through FEDEX.

Has anyone ever heard of a new (not refurbished) machine being defective? Has anyone heard of this before?

Yes, you can get a bad one. Barring damage in transit, it is very unusual.

You would need to check the clinical manual, but I think it can be set for epr on ramp only, this would mess it up.

Let's not start that again. There are 41 posts on this subject here - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=156762&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

I'm not sure why she started a new thread where the history of the discussion cannot be easily seen. IMO, she should have continued on the original thread.

well I guess it's already been said, although I didn't attempt to read the 3 pages.

I would still assume that something is not set to the same settings as her older S9.

My theory is the machine settings got stuck in a time warp from being used in the kitchen while watching the pot that won't boil.

Like the referenced AS10 is your S9 also an AutoSet? If so, are the pressure ranges the same? Are all the settings that are common to both machines set identically? If not, what are the differences and why?

I totally agree that a setting is likely to be different.
Does the OP have the clinical manual? Every time I read mine, I find something new. (Yes, ME)
It is not a "light read", and intensive STUDYING is necessary. Study until it hurts, then repeat.
It is a rotten shame that this essential document is not bundled with EVERY machine!

Luthie,

Sending it back has to be the absolute last resort because as you say chances are the company will just switch it on, check to see if it runs, and then ship it back to you, all at your expense. You're not in a good position here at all.

So exhaust every possibility before sending it back including as others suggest going over each setting very carefully.

Also, as was suggested on your other thread, why not post Sleepyhead data from the 2.5 hours you spent on the machine, and a night from your S-9 machine so that folks here can compare and see if anything jumps out at them. Even if you were awake, it doesn't matter, at least folks can compare settings etc and just possibly help to figure out what is going on.

If I were you I would only send it back after I was absolutely sure I'd tried everything.

That's right, the Sleepyhead data would at least let everyone see the settings and see how the pressure is behaving in the graphs.

If you get a manometer you can measure pressure at your mask. If it is correct then maybe try a different mask? The P10 worked great for me for 2 weeks and then it did not work anymore. I am sure your mask was fine, but things can change possibly?
I dont know if the diffuser got dirty (i washed mine multiple times) or what happened. It was a great mask while it lasted. It might behavior differently on different machines, who knows...
I might poke some bigger holes into mine and give it another try

I love my P10 - been using for a week or so.
Poking holes is not a good idea. A better idea is to start a thread and post your data and explain why you think it stopped working.
