Forgot CPAP Machine - What do you do?
Re: Forgot CPAP Machine - What do you do?
I forgot a part to the cpap once awhile ago and tried to side sleep but wasn't entirely successful.
Because a 3 hour drive was involved, I took a nap a couple of hours after waking up....the 45 min to 90 min naps help to offset a bad nights sleep somewhat, but I had to be very wary and cautious about what I was doing.

Showing your lover your cpap is an indication of TRUST.
If you do not trust this person, maybe you should be sleeping elsewhere.

Get a spare machine (you need one anyway) and leave it at your 'friends' house.FoggyBrain24 wrote:If you visit yiur frienda and decide to sleep at their house but did not bring your cpap. Are there any sleep hygiene related thinfs that help you make it through a cpap-free night?

This is why we shouldn't let young people have sleep apnea. They still want to carouse. Whereas, we old folk, sleep in our own beds and don't have these problems.

haha, thanks for all of the replies.
Not an issue with trust. I've been seeing someone, we live in different parts of the city. We had tickets to see a show last night, I didn't want to bring the CPAP machine with me to work and to dinner / show. We ended up heading back to her apartment, as she had an earlier day than me. I slept without the device, which I haven't been doing much, but in the interest of not having to always go back to my place, I did it.

Re: Forgot CPAP Machine - What do you do?
My sister took a 4 day trip & forgot her cap machine. She called a medical supply store and they rented her one for $50 for the 4 days. She said they took a new one out of the box and gave her a new mask. She returned the cap when done and they told her to keep the mask. I doubt any of us will be able to duplicate that deal. But my point is, you might give a supply store a call to see what they might offer.
Re: Forgot CPAP Machine - What do you do?
I've 'forgotten' my machine more than one time and up to a week. I didn't notice any difference in how I felt or functioned during the day. IMO it depends on what other medical issues you have. I'm not suggesting that's right for you... but it's been okay for me.

White on rice is neither easy nor quick.zonker wrote:like white on rice
First it has to be milled to remove the hull. Then it goes through a second mill where the bran is removed. Then the whitest rice is buffed in a polisher.
It's disappointing how little people know about what they eat.

It certainly would have been helpful to have this info in the OP.FoggyBrain24 wrote:haha, thanks for all of the replies.

Re: Forgot CPAP Machine - What do you do?
A couple years ago, I went on a day trip fro Seattle to Portland and back. . I usually do this once a month. Leave in the morning, home about midnight. Long day, but no problem. Well, my alternator died just after 5pm, while I was in Portland. Too late to get it repaired the same day. I had to spend the night down there and return home the next day. I was lucky to have a friend who picked me up (and my cat), and I stayed in her RV. I had food, clothes, cat supplies, etc. But not cpap. I have since gotten a backup, and I keep it in my van. I also have a box with extra clothes, non perishable food, etc. So, I am good for a surprise overnight stay.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
