There are 58 and counting. And, no, gender is not determined by x and y chromosomes.

Oh puhleeze, gender is biologically determined by the X and Y chromosomes. Barring any chromosomal abnormalities such as XXY (why do I recognize that?), there are only 2 genders.

Anything beyond the 2 is a mental issue, not a biological fact.

Gender is not determined by the X and Y chromosomes.

Even sex is not determined solely by the X and Y chromosomes:
In humans, biological sex is determined by five factors present at birth: the presence or absence of a Y chromosome, the type of gonads, the sex hormones, the internal reproductive anatomy (such as the uterus in females), and the external genitalia.

Paraphrased from Knox, David; Schacht, Caroline. Choices in Relationships: An Introduction to Marriage and the Family. 11 ed. Cengage Learning; 2011-10-10 [cited 17 June 2013]. ISBN 9781111833220. p. 64–66.
There are plenty of materials on the determination of sex and the determination of gender readily available if you are interested in improving your knowledge of the matter of which you speak.

Barring abnormalities at birth, all of the above will agree on one of two genders. Yes, there are people with androgen insensitivity (an abnormality) that can be genetically male but externally female - but that is an abnormality.

Gays are still one of two genders. How they think and what they find attractive does not alter their physical gender.

It's like saying humans can have 3,4 or more arms. Yes, it can happen (due to abnormalities), but if you ask most people how many arms a person is supposed to have, the answer will almost always be two.

Thinking you're some oddball, made up gender does not make it so. Just because someone thinks up a new gender identity does not mean it exists anywhere outside of their own head.

You are showing your ignorance. Homosexuality is not about gender. It's about who you are naturally attracted to.

Terms like "physical gender" and "oddball, made up gender" specify nothing. Not worthy of a response.

There is a spectrum, a sliding scale of hormones that everyone has in different degrees, which is why some people may be born superficially appearing to be one sex (or gender) but in fact on lab exam etc. turn out to have a range of hormones and physical appearance features that cannot be quickly assigned just to one of two categories. They didn't ask to be that way, but to imagine them going through life pretending to be or feel only what others want to label them, but not have a natural and satisfying love life and/or children or a community that supports them is cruel, shortsighted, ignorant and pointless. Biology determines sex and/or gender, not your centuries out of date prejudices.

You are mostly correct, but you are overlooking the brain's neural pathways which are the proximate determining factor of gender.

If people send in a sample of their DNA, what possible genders can be detected? Outside of abnormalities, the answer is TWO. Humans are XX or XY period. If any gender other than XX or XY (or the abnormalities) can be detected genetically, I will then agree there is another.

Now if you want to change it to "gender roles", we are in a completely different area.

I know Sons of Anarchy does exist - but I have only seen maybe 5 minutes of it.
I have no idea who Chucky is.

My entertainment consists of reading the numerous insults posted on this forum.

I find it interesting that Julie posted this, then it disappeared - but not in time
Julie wrote:Your previous note says 'barring abnormalities' and this one again says a similar thing, as if the thousands of people who are somewhere on the scale are abnormal (and therefore not even worthy of more than 'barring' in your argument). Are you a eugenicist? Do you believe that everyone who e.g. isn't pure Caucasian, with blue eyes and blonde hair is abnormal? Do you know how hugely outnumbered you are?
