Apria nightmare ! Input needed please

Post by ApneaQueen » Tue Sep 12, 2017 10:03 pm

So I'm new to the Sleep Apnea world and I'm excited to get started with my restful night sleep as a hosehead. My problem is dealing with Apria Healthcare. I called them last Wednesday and they had my script . I called again on Thursday and they ha3d the work order in and said it would take 5 days . I was fine with that....I called today and the rep said it was being processed ! And she kept saying I had Kaiser insurance ! I have Molina! After I got that straightened out she said they are going to send it fedex without a mask fitting or anything! I know it doesn't take a rocket scientist to run a Cpap but it's kind of intimidating . I have been calling them everyday and will continue to call them . I also don't need a prior authorization so I don't know what they are "Processing" Is there anything else I can do?

Did you ever find out the exact model of machine they are shipping you? Do you know what your prescription specifies?

If you stay in touch with the members here, the intimidating part can go away.

On another point, you have started at least three threads about DME issues. Keep it all in one thread so that members who try to help you can see the total picture.

Sorry about that Chicagogranny . That makes sense.

They can't even tell me what I'm getting. Well not what type of Cpap Machine. I am closer than I was to receiving it.

Find out the EXACT model name. There are 4 models in the AirSense 10 model line

Basic model..limited data....AVOID ....AirSense 10 CPAP

Acceptable full data models with the AutoSet being preferred if at all possible.
AirSense 10 Elite
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her

Medicare allows/pays for the same amount for any of the above machines. DMEs (Apria especially) will try to give you the basic CPAP model because it costs them less and they make more money on it. If they tell you differently it's a big fat lie.
Do NOT accept the basic CPAP...they can supply you with one of the others and still make a decent profit.
The data it offers is extremely limited...no graphs and no breakdown into event category which could make the difference between success and failure if you run into trouble.

If they give you a hard time...just tell them you will take your business elsewhere...and there are DMEs who will work with Medicare that will dispense full data machines. Often the threat of losing the client is enough to get them to back peddle and give you a full data machine.

I was told it is a fully functional Auto pap machine . The latest model that is fully data capable. I hope it's not a brick . I will take my business somewhere else. This is my health that is in their hands . Thank you

NEVER, EVER trust a DME, particularly Crapria. Lean how to tell exactly which model you receive and check run hours before you accept it.

Then it should say "AutoSet" on the face of the machine.
Model names are easily seen on the AirSense 10 machines...lower right hand corner next to the water chamber.

---and the name is printed directly on my "for Her" model with silver ink--no sticker.
