I like this idea. Setting up something that wouldn't cause any noticeable issue to a new member but would seriously curtail trolls and spammers would be cool.

Nope, sorry but I just created a new account and all I had to do to prove I was not a robot was select the correct radio button.

Well, I don't know what to say then because I was just reporting what Carolyn told me a couple of weeks ago when I asked about having Captcha as part of registration.

To create a new member account - There's two radio buttons. By default the top one "Spammer button" is checked.

If the selection never changes it's simply a mater of tweaking what ever spam program your using to check the next box.

We need something that changes all the time. Like making the new member do math from a jpeg image. With a box to type the answer.

IE: what's 2+5 ___ or something silly along those lines. Or maybe use the google verification. I don't know how much that costs to implement but it would stop this nonsense.

Well, at least I no longer feel compelled to do my part to delete them. We're far past that. I have family members who troubleshoot websites with such issues, so this concerns me for our site here regarding the feasibility of repair at this point. Will the cost be justifiable to the Goodmans? Hopefully if something is going to be done it will happen before the spam is enough to cause Google to blacklist the site. Just adds one more layer and time ($). Hopefully the solution will turn out to be simple and we'll be back to business as usual soon.

This just really stinks. The entire first page is covered and the bottom post I saw was from the exact time it was. Whoever/whatever is doing this, they are being 100% successful at taking over the forum.

I hope it gives them some kind of satisfaction. It's not something I will ever understand - ruining something good just to get kicks.

We're approaching 300 pages of SPAM posts, something like 15,000 posts. You can forget about doing anything effective by manual deletion especially considering they're still coming in.
