Airtouch F20
Airtouch F20
Interesting new option for those using the F20. A new cushion using memory foam. Not sure I like the idea of having to get a new cushion every 30 days if not covered by insurance (or NHS for those of us in UK). Can't wait to see first reviews.

This brings the question of why someone did not do this before? It sounds very comfortable.

Very interesting, I wouldn't mind giving that a try. I couldn't find the cushion price nor the info that recommends monthly replacement?

Yes. Is this the first step to a mask that moulds to the face and not a face that we have to try to mould to the mask! Let's be honest there aren't many of us with the perfect face for a certain mask.

It's on cpap.com already. Can buy cushion only as it fits the current airfit f20 frame. Think it was 56 dollars. Just a shame we in the UK can't give it a try for a few months.

I was sitting here sort of thinking the same thing.Setj wrote:This brings the question of why someone did not do this before? It sounds very comfortable.
I was also wondering how hot that memory foam might feel on the face now that summer is here.
Along with thinking how interesting the concept is while I wouldn't be interested at all in the full face version the nasal cushion version might spark a glimmer of interest from me. I am pretty much a nasal pillow person but on occasion have dabbled in the nasal cushion market.

I'm in the UK too, I may enquire with ResMed tomorrow, Pugsy makes a good point about it possibly feeling too warm but that may not be so much of a problem here.1999jacko wrote:It's on cpap.com already. Re: Airtouch F20
Maybe it would last longer than 30 days if using a liner with it.

What makes you guys think that the cushion only lasts 30 days? Earlier in my CPAP life I used a cushion mask for 6 moths. Then I switched to Quattro. My Quattro cushions last about 9 months and even then they are not worn out.tuzacat wrote:Maybe it would last longer than 30 days if using a liner with it.

Re: Airtouch F20
I am betting it will last longer than 30 days...now will it last as long as the regular silicon?
That's going to be something to get figured out later depending on cleaning ritual. I doubt the foam will hold up as long as the silicon (some people reporting years of use with one cushion) but I fully expect that it won't fall apart on the 31 day.
30 days is ResMed's standard replacement advice for any of their mask cushions for full face or nasal and we all know that they can last a lot longer before becoming problematic. It is going to depend on cleaning ritual (frequency and detergent) as well as a person's own body oils....and yes...using a liner would most definitely extend the life.
Will be interesting to see the reviews on the foam part...I am thinking how nice it would be not to have the lines that the silicon edges will sometimes cause on people's faces....and also hopefully lessen the chance of fragile skin (those paper thin skinned people) getting cut or bruised or abraded so much.

Re: Airtouch F20
I just ordered the Airtouch F20 cushion to see how it works. I will try it and have my wife try it. Right now, she is using the F20 with a Padacheek liner, and I am using the F20 without a liner. I had slightly higher leak rates with the liner, and actually prefer the mask without the liner.

It remains to be seen how long the practical life is. The ResMed site says,LSAT wrote:What makes you guys think that the cushion only lasts 30 days? How often do patients need to replace their AirTouch 20 memory foam cushion?
We recommend that patients replace their foam cushion once a month to maintain mask comfort and hygiene. This can be automated as part of a prescribed replenishment cycle.

That is not CPAP.com's recommendation. They just download the information from ResMed.tuzacat wrote:LSAT it said 30 days in the info about the mask on CPAP.com.
