Finally back with an APAP

Post by Tahera11979 » Fri May 05, 2017 12:02 pm

Hi all,

For some reason I couldn't access the site in weeks and finally it's working again.

Just a brief update, we have managed to upgrade to the CPAP Auto and my dh still snores. Sighhh. The pressure is now between 8-17.

I have attached the latest report. I would be so happy to hear your thoughts as we really don't know what to do anymore.

According to the posted result his pressure range is 6-12 and 12 is not enough. I would raise the Pmax to 18 and the Pmin to 10 and see what happens.

Your latest report is from 8 days ago? How are you doing currently? The report indicates that your Minimum pressure is too low.
You said it is now higher...has that helped?

Hi all,

It seems like I have posted the wrong results. I will update the latest one shortly.

Thank you for the support.

Yes, many of us have been locked out until today apart from the US, no explanation offered AFAIK - Hope you get the settings sorted soon and the new APAP starts working well for him.

Don't forget to update the equipment profile

Hi all,

We have increased the upper pressure and my dh is still snoring. It's the vibratory snore that wakes me up with a scare at night. I got used to the noise of the machine but the snores are still extremely constant. Please hep!!

Have you increased the lower pressure (it's the one that makes the difference)?

And when posting (read the instructions again) get rid of the calendar because it's preventing other info below it from appearing.

Dear Julie,

Thank you for your advise and I will do that. I am still getting used to Sleepyhead so please bear with me.

Your comment gives me hope. How much would you propose to increase the pressure to?

In general, a bump of 1-2 cm is usually where to start, at least for a few days to see how things go, unless the pressure is already quite high (e.g. above 10) in which case you might look at other factors... and an ENT visit to rule out e.g. turbinate or other nasal blockages could be in order.

Sure sounds good. Currently it's on 9-17. We might go for 12-20?

Would anyone else have any advise on this?

The reason I am a bit worried is that the pressure was fairly low for the beginning of the night.

The upper limit looks good to me, his AHI is pretty good so 17 cm seems to be fine to kill the events but maybe 9 to 17 is a long way to travel to deal with the snores before they happen. I would be inclined to try 11-17 or 12-17, raising the upper limit to 20 could potentially be uncomfortable and disrupt his sleep.

You could also consider reducing or switching off exhale relief.

Hi Hannibal, nice to hear from you again after a long time!

12-17 sounds great. We will try that for sure. I really hope it will work this time.

How would we reduce exhale relief? Is there a setting called like that?

Thank you for the support!

I think it's called A Flex on your machine, I would try changing one thing at a time though, either the minimum pressure or the A Flex setting, then give it a few days.

The minimum pressure is the most critical pressure...not the max unless a person is seeing a prolonged period of time with the pressure maxed out. You are not...at least on the one report you shared.

I really wouldn't go with a big jump in that minimum like the 9 to 12 change since all we are dealing with here is just snores.
I would try a 1 cm increase to 10 cm minimum first and see how things go....then maybe try another 1 cm increase if not happy with the 10 cm minimum.
You can do whatever you want with the maximum...the machine won't go anywhere without a good reason.

The first part of the night the pressure stays nice and low and the snores are minimal but the second part of the night the pressures increased a lot and the snores also increased. I suspect he likely rolled over onto his back and was sleeping on his back for a prolonged period of time.

once there's better charts, answering will be less of a guess.
