Is CPAP about to give me a Stroke?

Post by Jimmycrackhorn » Sat Mar 11, 2017 10:49 pm

What the heck is going on with this thing now?

It's one problem after another...

Now when I'm wearing the mask and start to fall asleep I can feel pressure in my hands and extremities build up. My hands LITERALLY fall asleep. This thing is some how messing with my circulation. I know this doesn't happen without the mask on.

Anyone have any ideas what the heck is going on?

Do you have the neck strap very tight? It can certainly make a difference, but if not, consider your sleeping position otherwise, but also ask your MD about it.

What is your sleeping position? Try to sleep in the same position you did before cpap to see if it goes away.

When were you last tested in a sleep lab? Did it happen there?

Call your Sleep Doctor or your Primary Care Physician ASAP (if you have not already done so).

Could Be, XPAP machines are responsible for all things that happen to human bodies. If we would junk all XPAP machines, even Cancer would be cured. NOT!

Not using a XPAP machine when you need one, can cause a stroke, heart attact, organ failure, brain damage, ect! Jim

i don't see how you could possibly have your mask so tight it is cutting off circulation to your hands.

please go see your doctor asap.

like...immediately.

Crestifer - if the strap puts pressure on your cervical nerves it can definitely affect feeling in your arms and hands, though not necessarily in any permanent or even terrible way.

interesting.

i would have assumed you'd have to have it incredibly tight to do that.

that's why I love my p10, it hardly puts any pressure on anything.

No, not 'incredibly' tight, just too tight for you, especially if you're older or have other issues like arthritis that can make a diff.

I took half a 325 aspirin last night and changed to my Amara View and don't recall any problems really. It MIGHT be that I was trying to get my Airfit F10 to fit but that thing leaks all over so I keep tightening and tightening.

I did go to the ER. They told me to go to my sleep doc. The sleep doc and the ER both days my Blood Pressure seemed fine. It doesn't happen every night so I'm trying to see if there's a pattern. It ALSO might have something to do with me talking iron supplements or who knows.

The Sleep docs want me to do a Bipap test but... Well now I have to wait for my medicaid to kick back in since I let it lapse in accident and had to reapply.

So it's the waiting game right now. Unless someone knows a way to get free sleep or medical care without insurance for the time being. Maybe there's a free clinic around me but if the hospital doctor said, "You're not going to have a stroke now. Go see your sleep specialist." And the sleep specialist said my readings and blood pressure seemed fine but that if I'm feeling crappy to do a Bipap test, I dunno. I guess I'm going to have to wait and see. I'll keep this updated.

Any more ideas you guys have in the mean time are appreciated.

I've noticed my hands being numb upon waking up on occasion. Never when just laying there though. I'm not sure if it's from the way I sleep. Sometimes when I wake up I notice that my heart rate is very low compared to normal. I wonder if my BP is also lowered substantially when using bi-level -- I wouldn't be surprised if so. I do wear my headgear very tight to prevent leaks - unfortunately my pressures a high so I don't have much choice.
