Would you suggest putting up the pressure more?

you can't disable anything in the clinical menu, there are no more menus.
The DreamStation Pro should have 30 days auto trial mode available unless it was used up by someone else...like if they got a used machine but I think we checked that already and therapy hours match machine run hours.

Well. crap...
If under mode...when you change from cpap to the other choices and auto trial is indeed missing then the manual is lying to us.
Let me go look at the damn manual again to see if I dreamed up auto trial.

Yeah...if you know for sure he is snoring...more pressure.

Thank you so much, we appreciate it! It is crap in deed

It's on 12 now. Should we go for 14 or even more?

He certainly has been snoring...

Don't go higher than 14...at least for now.

I found the manual and have confirmation of what I say is shown in the manual.
Pictures coming shortly.
What I haven't figured out is how to "enable" A-Trial which is the auto trial.

Thanks Pugsy, you are the best!

Let us know if you come across any way to do that, that would be awesome.

We will put it on 14 tonight to see if it makes any change. I will make sure to post the results.

In the meantime it might be a good idea to look for a different doctor as this one wasn't very helpful.

Is there any way the pressure is higher than it should be? The reason I am asking is they have started with 8 after the sleep study and he kept snoring so the doctor put it up to 9 which both didn't work for us. Is this common that they mismatch the pressure like this?

I don't know what happened or why 8 cm seemed okay during the titration and not now unless it was related somehow to sleep position.

Per the AHI...the lower pressure works well but doesn't stop the snoring. Maybe the snoring wasn't so bad but now it is for whatever reason.
We have no way to know the criteria used for the titration...maybe it was just to a certain AHI and snoring be damned.

If he was sleeping well and the snoring didn't mess with his sleep then we probably would let the snoring slide but it's bad enough to disturb your sleep...so that's why we are trying to reduce it.

I found these items in the manual...you can clearly see where it talks about Auto L trial and where it says to enable of disable it but I can't find where it says how to enable or disable it. I just now read the whole damn thing and no where can I find how to enable the feature.

Gosh, how can I ever repay you for your efforts? It is super kind of you to look into it.

Your explanation makes sense, it could be the sleep position and the fact that he gained weight in the meantime.
Whatever it is I really hope that we will find the optimal pressure one day.

I will also keep researching to see if there is any way to enable the APAP trial option. Maybe someone else will be able to give us advise?
Let me know if you find anything. Thanks a lot again for your help!

Resetting the machine to factory defaults might get A trial enabled but it means erasing all past therapy data and we don't want to do that and I am not 100% sure that it would enable A trial since I have never used this machine.

What you might try....if the doctor will go along with it since it's obvious that snores are the problem...is get the doctor to prescribe the auto mode trial to help you figure out what pressure deals with the snores...then the DME would HAVE to turn Auto trial on. They don't have to unless the doctor requests it.
If the doctor wants it...they have to do it....but you gotta get the doctor to say he wants it.

That's a good idea. I will try and see if we can find a more competent doctor. I really hope it works. I might take some time I think and since we have a new insurance I am not sure if they would cover anything related to sleep studies but lets see.
We will put up the pressure to 14 for the next days, do you think there is anything else we can do in the meantime?

I can't think of anything unless we stumble onto a way to turn on the auto trial thing.
I suppose you could just call up the the DME and ask...if you don't ask the answer is "no" but they probably will say "you don't need it" and refuse to help. They could turn it on if they would just do it. Doesn't mean they have to change the settings to A trial..just turn it on
We could do the turning on.

I will do that. I will certainly be very persistent. Let's see if it works. I will also contact the dealer of the machine in our country.

I will keep you posted. About to go to bed. Fingers (And toes ) crossed that I will get some sleep.

Let us know if you come across any helpful information.

Thanks for all the help!

You aren't in the USA?
For some reason I thought you were.
If you are in another part of the world it is entirely possible that your DreamStation Pro isn't the same as the DreamStation Pro in the USA. Meaning it might not have that other mode...sometimes the machines Respironics makes for other countries aren't always identical to the machines the USA gets.
Well..they really are all the same on the inside but the software that gets loaded into the machines isn't necessarily the same.
Like they take the exact same machine and load one with the "Pro" software and load another exact same machine (as far as the guts) with the "Auto" software.

No we are not in the US. We live in the UAE so that's likely that the software is different. I suppose the reason is to make more money by having people go back and forth.

We are originally from the U.K. so might go and see a doctor there over the summer as so far we haven't found a good specialist yet. Deep inside I wish that the 14 will work of course.

Ahh...that may explain things. Why you don't have the same menu choices as we do here and expect the machine to have.

Let's see what 14 brings and go from there.

You also likely don't have insurance compliance issues looking over your shoulder....if we could find you a reasonably priced real full time auto cpap to use with your existing humidifier would you be interested?

We just got this machine not too long ago so it would be a waste but let's see. What are the prices usually and where would you look for it?

I will definitely go and see the vendor in the next days to make a complaint. Who knows, they may act upon it if we are lucky.
