Is anybody still using a "stand-alone" humidifier?

Post by D.H. » Fri Oct 21, 2016 11:13 am

When I got my first CPAP in 1999, I was told that it was the only one on the market (at the time), that has an integrated humidifier. The other CPAP humidification systems at the time were the "stand-alone" type. That is, there was a hose from the CPAP to the humidifier, and another hose from the humidifier to the mask. If it was a heated humidifier, it had a separate power cord. If it did not have a power cord, it was a "passive" or "pass-over" humidifier.

Is anybody still using such a system? If so, is it a heated or passive system?

Sit down. Take your meds. Stay still breathing deeply until they are working.

Lots of people use their up to date integrated humidifiers in passover mode on occasion now.

Also do what Blackspinner said.

Maybe I'm not clear on what your question means, but the only one I can think of is this long time member linked below:

However, he uses an Oracle oral mask and needs the extra moisture to keep his mouth moist.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I'm sure they are, or the companies would be out of bussiness. From your useless questions, maybe you would be better off withour a computer. Jim

Wow! They are still in use! I was wondering about that.

They are probably fine for home, but extremely awkward for travel.

Also, some of them don't have a universal power source, unlike most CPAPs and integrated humidification systems.

Yes, precisely! Notice that the one in the link is only good for 115 volt systems (which are found in the U.S., Canada, and most of the countries in the Americas).

That's your problem, you are always wondering about useless crap, when you should be wandering somewhere that doesn't have internet access. Jim

I have a suggestion for you, instead of asking members your silly questions, why don't you look it up yourself.

Is it because you spend so much time "wondering" about useless stuff you don't have enough time to look it up yourself... or... you like to see your posts in print.. or.. you just don't believe that you are a PITA
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
