2 things helped me sleep longer than 6 hours, 1. totally darken your room, no light coming from anywhere till u get used to it. 2, turn down the AC to about 70-71 deg.
Wife and I tried these 2 things and now I can go for 7-9 hours easy...give it a try. Good luck.
thanks, knothead. those are both excellent suggestions. i've a "blackout" curtain in my room which certainly helps with that dratted sunshine coming in. and i use a sleeping mask to curtail the rest.

HOWEVER. we don't do air conditioning. i grew up without it. and that was in the midwest! out here in the pacific northwest, i usually don't need air conditioning. but unfortunately, that means sleeping with the windows open, so no blackout curtain.

i find i do sleep more comfortably when the room is at about 60 to 65 degrees.

this may just come down to getting used to in in the very few hot months, then sleeping better the rest of the year.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

So why not get a small window AC just for your room and keep it cold just during sleep time. It sure wouldn't hurt anything, especially since getting enough sleep is your concern...
It may be your ticket to enough sleep...JMHO.

exactly! that's the source. thanks for the link. in my old age, i remembered that as donovan, not oliver!

You're welcome, and thank you for reminding me of the lyric, I knew it immediately.

Oh, they have good air conditioners for cheap sons - $160 - https://www.amazon.com/Keystone-Window- ... te+Control

And then they have excellent window units for other people - $290 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing ... dition=new

I generally get between 6 and 7.5 hrs per night, usually around an average of 6.7 hrs per night if I do the calcs. I function fine and typically feel very good, however I'd like to get 8 hours but that infrequently happens. Consequently, I try not to get depressed or worried about stuff that just doesn't seem to want to change (death, taxes, old age, kids being kids etc ).

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Is this the Donovan song you were thinking of?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTuPbJLqFKI

Memorable and similar in some ways.

Lately I've been getting only about 6 hours of sleep due to various factors. Not enough for me, I need 7-8 hours to feel well rested. I may get back to that at some point, I hope so *smile*.

can we work on that "old age" thing?

i take your meaning, though. i'm not like super upset that i'm not sleeping full tilt 8 hours. it's more like a goal i'm working on. hey, everybody needs a hobby, right?

nope, my old brain just decided to copy the oliver file and paste it into the donovan file. remarkable how that keeps happening.

yup, me too. i'm well satisfied that i'm getting good and healthy sleep.

can i help it if i'm greedy and want more?

Hey...I will trade you my last night for yours. I got 2 hours and 20 minutes I think those short hours were highly fragmented at that.
Boy, do I feel like crap today.

I rarely get 8 hours...usually I am lucky to get 7 to 7 1/2....between the cats and the dogs and Murphy's Law.
On occasion I have though but I can't really tell any difference between 7 to 7 &1/2 and 8 hours in terms of how I feel during the day.
Now around 6 1/2 or less...yeah, my butt starts dragging.
Today with less than 2 1/2....my butt won't even drag it is so tired.

I know you were hoping that something on your software reports would just stand up and scream "fix me and you will sleep longer" but in all the reports you have shared I really haven't seen anything that might point in that direction. Sometimes it ain't all related to cpap or sleep apnea. Like my last night...not related to cpap or sleep apnea at all.

Aw, that's brutal - cats, dogs or whatever. Pugsy, I'm sending some good thoughts up to the spirit in the sky that you catch up on your sleep tonight.

Sub 4 hours and my butt starts dragging. It's weird but I don't ever remember being an eight hour sleep person... At seven years old I can remember smuggling my toys under my blankets and playing way past midnight. Yeah, it's a bit strange. Lately I've been thinking maybe it was due to my mother's lifelong smoking habit (INTENSE all day long). That naturally includes when I was in the womb. I don't smoke and never did but I sometimes wonder if that screwed up my brain wiring in regards to sleep. Anyone else experienced that

yikes! sorry about your poor sleep. now, if you'd just post some sleepyhead screenshots, we can help you out!

i hear what you are saying. the same night you had bad sleep, so did i. though i had .42 ahi. i tossed and turned all night. so machine says good sleep, i say horrible sleep. but i'm just going to put it down to one of those nights and carry on.

before osa therapy, there were many nights where i'd count myself lucky to get 5 hrs sleep. that seemed to be my cut off. i didn't feel GOOD with that amount of sleep, but i could get by. any less than that and i could barely drag myself through the day.

yes, i truly DID want someone to point at my graph and say "zonker, your framesat is all gufoogled and you need to raise you conductence." or some such nonsense. but i reckon it's not to be.

listen, i'm happy with what i have. a lot of people aren't even getting this far.

hmm...can't help you there. my mom was a smoker too.(dad passed when i was 7) but i grew up and took up the habit myself. finally quit for good 7 years ago. but it truly didn't affect my sleep patterns after i quit.
