If I have to wash my equipment first, why do I need to run it through the So Clean to get it clean? If it sterilizes, the mask wont stay sterile for very long. As soon as you pick it up and place it on your face, it is covered with the germs from your hands and face again. Your bedroom bay be clean, but it is not sterile.

I daresay the equipment used in the study is professional sanitizing level, costing thousands of dollars, and
MOST DEFINITELY NOT THE SO-SO-CLEAN.
I'm sure the No-Clean folks are counting on you to make that ASSumption.

hot damn, seawolf just indicated how ineffective the NoClean actually is:

from the paper linked above: "Petri dishes containing the microorganisms were inserted in a chamber and exposed for 10 - 480 seconds to ozone concentrations between 300 and 1500 ppm."

from the NoClean website:
"Q: What is the concentration of ozone inside the SoClean"
"A: less than 10 PPM (parts per million) "

so, it's *LESS* than 1/30th to 150th as effective as the study conditions....

Thank you, seawolf.

You and Chunky are both correct. I don't think anybody here is saying Ozone will not kill microorganisms, it will; but the unit in the referenced article does cost several thousand dollars and it requires a 100CFM Medical Air Compressor to generate the ozone. Yet, the "believers" still think this little 300.00 unit with no external supply of medical air, High Purity 02 or Hydrogen Peroxide can magically produce enough ozone to kill "CPAP GERMS" in our Cpap units.

But at that strength, could also kill pets, humans, and electronics.
Not worth the risk, especially when plain old soap and water is more than adequate.
And for the immune-compromised or OCD (respect and be kind to the obsessed),
there is Control 2--sold by our sponsor site.

I hate to get into the middle of this but a second paper was referenced.

https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... _on_E_coli

I'm not saying this necessarily relates to anything but it was interesting to read as far as the subject of ozone disinfection.
This would also make me question whether the So Clean can actually produce anywhere near 10ppm since they found lower levels to be problematic without a catalytic converter to neutralize it. If humans can detect 0.01ppm as stated then being around a non-hermetically sealed device at 10ppm would be really unpleasant.

Since this was 13 years ago I would think that if it was feasible it would have been produced by now.

so, what you're saying is, if you've got cowpoop in your cpap mask, then ozone is the thing to use to kill the ecoli on it, so you can breath clean poop, eh?

thanks, I'll stick to soap and water.

Well you have to be prepared for the unexpected.....

Actually I asked about it the first time I went to my DME because I saw one on their shelf. The tech told me that it was a waste of money and they had sold a grand total of one to someone that didn't want to listen to them.
