You won't lose coverage if you change the settings on your machine. They don't care what the settings are. The only number they are interested in is hours of use, to make sure you're "compliant". They aren't going to pay for something you're not using.

Whether your doctor cares or not if you change the settings, its YOUR health. You don't have to act like an obedient child at the expense of your health, and your pocket--i.e. another sleep test. Ridiculous!

BTW, did you have any centrals on your full night titration???

I've never heard of an insurance company that ever cared about ANYTHING other than "are you using the machine"... ie, they don't care what settings are, OR whether it's working... just whether or not you're using it.

I talked to the equipment provider this afternoon and she explained that I'd only need another in-lab titration if my doctor wanted to set it at a constant pressure. Because this machine can be on auto-adjust, he can give a range and they can change it without a new lab titration. That's what I asked him for but I guess insurance wasn't clear with his nurse about that distinction. Whew.

Perhaps this doctor DOES want new in lab titrations for every change of pressure. They may tell you that the data on the machine is "not accurate". We've seen that before.

ChaChing!!!

Just download the clinical manual for your machine. Read it. Set a reasonable pressure range.
Then download Sleepyahead software and start looking at your data.
Ask questions here. You will get help. By the time you could schedule an appointment with your doc you will likely have everything dialed in. If not the most likely culprit will be the mask may not work for you. I have a dozen different masks. Maybe the doc could help you select a mask that would work better for you.
If everything is working just go visit the doc with a Sleepyahead report to let him know how great it has been working and thank him for all his effort. not.
