Body twitching when using cpap

Post by Sebastopolman » Mon Jan 25, 2016 2:24 pm

Am in the first months of adjustment...notice my body twitches throughout the nite when I use my machine. (Resmed)This is tiring.
It does not twitch like that when I am off the machine. Have tried magnesium, Bach flowers, all kinds of things, nothing seems to help. Feel like I am developing a real sleep disorder now. Any help appreciated.

Hello! We aren't doctors and the most anyone can do is guess what this might be. My suggestion is that you run this by your doctor... then please come back and let us know how you are doing.

Your body was twitching and you were not feeling euphoric?
And you did NOT go directly to the emergency room?

While none of us can diagnose you, more detail could trigger some thoughts on things to ask your doctor about. Does your twitching affect any particular parts of your body? Are you on any meds that could have this as a side effect?

@Sebastopolman
I know this thread is a couple of years old. Were you able to find a resolution for the "twitching" with CPAP. I recently experienced a similar episode. Kept me up for hours. Once, I took the mask off, I was able to sleep throughout the rest of the night.
Any help in a direction to start looking would be greatly appreciated. I have a follow up appt with my sleep doc at the end of the month. In my experience, not every doc is familiar with the strange and uncommon phenomenons of their field and it helps to point them down a few different paths, just to get them started.

I'll sometimes twitch right as I am about to dose off with or without the machine but never continuous or through the night .

Most likely you had the twitching before CPAP therapy... Now you just wake up from it since you're not dying from suffocation in your sleep.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"
