Post by metsfan302 » Mon Nov 16, 2015 6:33 pm

I have never wanted to get home from work, get to sleep faster in my life..... While I know this is not going to be fixed over night, but it's def a step in the right direction,

Hopefully can start seeing some normal numbers.....

ooops....give me a little bit...I gotta find the "good" voodoo doll and not the Murphy voodoo doll.

Good luck tonight. I predict a very pleasant surprise for you in the AM...might not be perfect because we are guessing at the starting pressure needed to deal with your OSA but the central issue will be hugely improved.

Woo hoo! Positive juju headed your way.

Try not to get frustrated if it takes a while. The forced breaths can be startling especially when first dozing off, and your numbers may actually go up with additional arousals. It took me about a month to sleep through the night and significantly longer for my numbers to drop. Everyone's experience is different; your mileage may vary.

Best of luck!

Edit: PS - I am not as active on this forum as I once was and missed your original thread. I just read it and want to echo that you are on the right path. Pugsy helped me similarly almost two years ago - from CPAP to Bilevel to ASV. Welcome to the ASV club.

Well its only about 4hrs of data, real world things kept me from sleeping longer......

I cannot say this enough - THANK YOU PUGSY!!! For guiding me along and showing me it is possible to take control of ones therapy and to just be there to answer endless PM's!!

Big thanks to everyone else who has helped me or anyone else on this board.

here is the summary - were did the damn central and obstructive apnea events go?

event break down

Its going to take some getting use too, but yea I think its a ton different in the right direction!!!

Before ASV / on Cpap --- I would AVG 40-60 AHI

With the EPAP pressure set correctly, OSA events should be vanquished as you can see.
You machine is reacting so quickly to the beginning of a perceived central event, that they too tend to be gone.
If you look at the pressure pattern, you machine is reacting to and treating things that would end up being reported as OSAs and CSAs on a 'normal' CPAP machine.

In other words, isn't technology great when it works for us!!!

I'm so glad your machine is working so well for you.

Thanks so much!!!

My wife last night asked me a question that well I could not answer.

Why do all these Cpap/vpap etc companies make so many different models when they can make just 1 say an ASV type machine that can be set to do Cpap/Apap/Asv etc..... ?

Okay....can I say it now...."I told you so"

Give yourself a few nights to adjust to the machine and the machine to adjust to your breathing.
You may want to increase the EPAP just a little but you don't want to do that just yet based on 1 short night.
Last night was very acceptable for a first night on ASV....with ASV you do have to give things a bit of time to settle in..maybe even more so than with cpap/apap. Huge/monumental improvement over what has been happening.

For people wondering about the UAs shown on SH..it's the way SH reports what the machine gathers.
In this situation it isn't a leak causing the UA flags.

Glad things are looking up. In keeping with the season, for the newbies out there, just an observation:

About one third hit a homerun.

About one third get a a base or two.

About one third get a bean ball and stagger off the field.

Good luck to all the newbies... I hope they all head to the World Series .

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
