The one I tried was very used to the point no matter how much I washed it, still has faint smoke smells. Doesn't mean much but my presumption would be if intellipap made newer models, I probably used an older one.
I place my rematar cpap on the bottom drawer of my nightstand. I also use a Phillips hose cover. I stuck with the Amara view because there was less echo noise in that one. But I can still here the inhalation. I have tinnitus and that doesn't bother me. But the inhalation noise from the machine does.
I wear earplugs to block external noise but I know it amplifies breathing noise. Given the choice I rather hear breathing noise instead of the environment noises. I compromised by using lower decibel blocking earplugs.
I'm still stuck whether I should just stick with my Remstar or if I should try a different machine. I'm probably not going to find a virtually quiet machine.
Have you tried putting your Remstar on the floor to see if any noise vibration on the machine is reduced. I know that would not make a difference for the mask. I have noticed a reduction of noise level in the mask when the tube is under the blankets. Not sure if that would be enough for you.
On the Rmestar, I turned off the AFlex/CFlex. I do not know if it makes a difference in noise or not, it just one more thing disturbing me.
As for the smoke smell, I would not disregard that company based on that one machine if you liked your sleep on it. It may be an issue with the machine itself or it could have gone through a smoke fire. I know someone who's house insurance paid for a new CPAP because of the smoke damage in the home. Insurance said just get a new machine, because the insides would have to be stripped to be cleaned and it would be to costly.
