Ok, so how much of the pillow fit outside of your nares?

From the manual, it's just supposed to be those outer ridges, with the soft "cone" fitting nearly all inside the nostril (see pdf at the link: http://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents/ ... er_eng.pdf).

Also -- I couldn't find my small and medium pillows anywhere today....then I remembered I gave them to someone local who needed them after they didn't work for me ('doh!) so I can't try them tonight in any event.

I think I'm getting stubborn about making the x-smalls work because that's all I have to work with right now, tonight, and I need something to work. Sorry if I'm becoming a pain.

I wear my pillows as loose as possible without leaking.

Poppi2, can you describe what you mean by "loose"? I assume you mean just barely resting on your nose? I don't *think* things are too tight, but I'll be extra sure tonight. When I did try the bigger pillows, they seemed to fit ok until I turned the CPAP on - that was when the inner cones seemed to collapse forward, and I couldn't really get air.

I mean that the pillows touched my nares just enough not to leak. Earl

Thanks again, everyone.

So I tried wearing them looser, with neosporin Thursday night. The neo helped with the pain and allowed healing, quite a bit. But the mask didn't stay in place, and leaks and wiggly mask kept waking me up, and it totally came off more than once.

Yesterday the RemZzz arrived. Used those, plus neosporin, plus wearing the mask loose, but not as loose as Thursday, last night. I think the combo of neo and the RemZzz actually helped hold things in place better, or else I hit the sweet spot of loose but not too loose.

In any case, things are looking and feeling much better, and I'm no longer in a panic. So thanks again!

Just wanted to update, as it's been about 6 weeks of using or not using the Remzzz pillow liners.

Bottom line: I just ordered more, because they work for me.

The nights I don't use them, no matter how I position the mask, I either get leaks because it's too loose/moving around, or I end up with a sore (maybe because it's too tight and/or moving around?).

The nights I do use them, leaks are reduced, and no sores.

Glad the liners help.
Still wondering why you are getting open sores or abrasions though...In over 6 years I have never had that happen with any nasal pillow mask I have either used or tried.
My suspicion is movement...sort of like how new shoes will sometimes rub a blister or sore spot but I don't know why they are moving enough to rub some place raw. They shouldn't be doing that if properly sized and fitted.
Anyhow...at least you have found a solution that works and are comfortable with the solution.
