I know what other health-conditions I have. But they don't pose the same general risks. My paternal grandfather(god rest his soul) had a stroke. We never found out what caused it, but it's becoming more apparent now. And my father does have long-term untreated sleep apnea and had a ton of health problems as a consequence(Diabetes 2, heart issues, sleep paralysis). So in my case, the predisposition is partially hereditary.

The way I see it. If I don't get this under control now, I'll pay for it later. I'm alreadying paying for it by being in this chronically disturbed sleep, mentally impaired state. If getting this OSA/sleep disturbances sorted out, atleast clears this brain-fog, allowing me to resume my studies. It would have been worth it. I don't know why I'm rubbing people off in the wrong way here.

What make of CPAP your dad use?
He doesn't. He got to borrow a cpap machine a decade ago after having a sleep study, but stopped using it since it was uncomfortable. He's not been on cpap therapy since. He's in his late 50s now.

I am wondering if you could use some oxygen supply during sleep instead of a CPAP machine?

Let's say that you could find a used CPAP for $500. Do you know how much you'll need to pay for a mask with a cushion? Let's say $100. Next, you'll need to change the cushion at least every 2 months, costing $40. For other items that get used up add $40 every 6 months. Next, you should be ready if the machine needs repair. So if a canister of oxygen with a nasal mask could do the job you would then be in a better position money wise.

But I might be wrong:

The thing is. I'm going to give the CPAP to my father, after if I fix this with weight loss and recover from sleep debt, anything else that would have occured. Hopefully he can see sense by then.

If anyone has a cpap machine with a humidifier, and any other useful accessories, for a reasonable price. You're welcome to PM me.
