Well that could be signs of a turnaround in your life.

What have you done to lose that weight? What are you planning to do to lose more?
I stayed around a thousand calories a day. I will just keep doing that. 20 more lbs. to go.

1000 calories a day seems way too low. Are you hungry? That could cause problems with sleep too.

I've lost 120 lbs by changing what I eat and not so much focus on the calories. I've increased fruits, veggies and good fats (nuts, avocado, cheese, etc) and removed starches, most grains and anything processed. I've got my HBA1C down to 6.4 (from 12!!) and I think my inflammation is improved somewhat.

That's my concern also. And at that low level, can he be eating enough different foods to get the variety of nutrients needed for good health?

I've embraced the starchy life. I spent 13 years in varying low-carb diets. Starches are cheaper and taste good. I'm not really hungry.

I'm not going to be 1000 calories forever; just to get the weight down.

Without adequate protein, your energy will stay in the sewer and your blood sugar will go thru the roof!

My energy was the same with low-carb, and I had a high cholesterol number.

Why don't you see a mental health therapist and take a copy of all your posts with you? Seriously!

That is a scary diet Noctuary and could account for a significant part of your problems. Any chance to see a nutritionist?

There's nothing wrong with eating beans, rice, and potatoes. There are people all over the world who thrive on starchy diets!

That kind of diet would put me in the hospital. I couldn't do it, but do what works for you. I just thought that your diet could be a contributor to your problems.

Noctuary, I just want to encourage you to keep seeking to improve your situation. The fact that you're here says you haven't given up on improving your situation. I understand that over time sleep deprivation can force one to conserve energies for essential activities (like work). And it's hard to feel social when you feel so bad. Just remembering when I was in survival mode, everything felt like too much effort. Our situations are different in that my legs continued ruining my sleep even with successful CPAP use. Spent years going to bed expectantly, thinking this just COULD be the night I sleep. If I didn't believe that it could happen, I think I would have lost my mind. The first few times I got snatches of real sleep, it gave me hope that more would come. I just kept doing everything I knew to do to provide an environment conducive for sleep, addressing known issues as best I could. This wasn't noble or courageous or anything commendable - I had no choice. At some point things did turn around for me. Not as quick as I needed or wanted. But it happened. Good luck with sorting things out, getting better sleep, and beginning to be restored physically, mentally and emotionally.
