Oh, for heaven's sake, this has gone way too far - I vowed not to get into it, but good grief!

I am quite new to this forum, but it sure does appear as though there is a high proportion of grumpy people posting. That might make some sense, given that this is a sleep disorder site. My suggestion would be to expand the information listed in individuals' profiles, to include average AHI and # of hours of therapy/night. Viewing this data might permit one to make greater allowances for grumpy behavior, based on sleeplessness. Of course, rude postings from folks with a low AHI and high hours/night would have to be explained in another way.

I like the idea of having more info options in the signature. Maybe not so much about attitude and grumpy level, but it might help new people to see which experienced people have similar issues and experiences. For example, somebody with a lower untreated ahi might not have a huge obvious improvement in one night like I did. Some of us have totally successful treatment, some not very, and some hot and miss. My treatment works very well. Almost always below ahi of 1.5, and I feel much better with great improvements. But I still have issues of falling asleep without it sometimes or taking my mask off. More good than bad, but I do have some bad nights on occasion.

This past week, I had a bad sinus infection with tons of coughing, and I couldn't keep my mask on during the coughing fits. I did finally figure out that increasing my minimum pressure from 11 to 13 allowed me keep the mask on during coughing fits long enough for the humidifier to help prevent further coughing fits. But 14, while comfortable breathing, was too much of a mask fitting issue while trying to sit upright. So, I had to experiment to find settings that worked for the situation. I also tried going back to my 11 starting pressure when the cough was much better, and the mask came flying off. I can't do that until this cough is completely done.

It would also be nice to include other issues. For example, I am a severe night owl (DSPS), and for somebody new dealing with both issues, I may be able to help them with my experience. Many other people have RLS, heart problems, etc. Things that can complicate sleep apnea treatment. Wouldn't it be great for newbies to have an idea who has personal experience in something they are struggling with?

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

In going over the posts in my defective frog (cancer) thread,
I am deeply touched by the kindness of people on this forum.
This is a beautiful collection of wonderful people.
Let us not lose sight of how good we really are.

For me, too. The nearest track is under 200 feet from where I am sitting!
