Re: Specific question about Split Test
So, Enchanter - were you able to contact the doctor's office today? Were they able to tell you anything, or at least make an appointment to see the doctor?

I think I'm going to do that tomorrow. Tbh, I'm always nervous about this kind of stuff. But what must be done, must be done.yaconsult wrote:So, Enchanter - were you able to contact the doctor's office today? Were they able to tell you anything, or at least make an appointment to see the doctor?

Reminder - we cannot substitute for your doctor. Not going to happen and we don't have the results to work with. Get on with it, get it overwith and you'll be able to start feeling better sooner.

Re: Specific question about Split Test
Indeed - it will clear your mind of all the "what if..."'s. And please ask him those three questions I suggested. Listen to his answers closely and avoid having thoughts like why what he's saying is not correct. Just open your mind and give him a chance to explain things to you. These are often the best kinds of meeting we can have with a doctor and they leave us with renewed confidence in the diagnosis when we understand what is behind it.
Best of luck getting an appointment with him soon!

Enchanter,
Please ask your doctor these questions that yaconsult suggests at the end of this quote. And listen to his answers closely and avoid having thoughts like why what he's saying is not correct. Just open your mind and give him a chance to explain things to you.

yaconsult wrote:From http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/sl ... leep-apneaWhen you meet with your doctor, that is an excellent question to ask him: During a sleep test, how is "sleep" measured and what counts as "sleep". Is it possible that I did not sleep for a single minute? According to all the machines, how many minutes did I sleep during the course of the study? Feel free to ask the doctor to explain and justify his answers - it's his job to explain them to you until you understand.Equipment Used for a Sleep Study
During a sleep study, surface electrodes will be put on your face and scalp and will send recorded electrical signals to the measuring equipment. These signals, which are generated by your brain and muscle activity, are then recorded digitally. Belts will be placed around your chest and abdomen to measure your breathing. A bandage-like oximeter probe will be put on your finger to measure the amount of oxygen in your blood.
Other Tests and Equipment Used for Sleep Apnea
EEG (electroencephalogram) to measure and record brain wave activity.
EMG (electromyogram) to record muscle activity such as face twitches, teeth grinding, and leg movements, and to determine the presence of REM stage sleep. During REM sleep, intense dreams often occur as the brain undergoes heightened activity.
EOG (electro-oculogram) to record eye movements. These movements are important in determining the different sleep stages, particularly REM stage sleep.
ECG (electrocardiogram) to record heart rate and rhythm.
Nasal airflow sensor to record airflow.
Snore microphone to record snoring activity.

Re: Specific question about Split Test
I believe that enabling this behaviour is doing harm to this person and will perpetuate or increase the anxiety. Why not assume he can figure it out on his own and he might live up to that expectation? If he is left to manage his life without being babysat he might just step up and take care of himself.

But he's made it clear he cannot figure it out on his own. All anyone's done here in any case is give advice, not money, not carried out 'acts' of any kind. Saying that trying to lessen someone's anxiety is 'coddling' sounds like something out of the Victorian age. Plus he's already been on the short end of numerous negative comments from posters.

change "coddling" to "ass kissing". That better? (reminder to self...know your audience)
He doesn't have to figure it out on his own because it is being done for him and likely always has been done for him...thus the narcissism and dependency. He needs to grow up and continuing to "ass kiss" is not helping.

Hi hang fire. I am curious to know why you didn't call out the previous two posters for mocking my use of language? It is interesting who gets away with rudeness on the forum and yet speaking back to them is shunned.

Sorry, the weather is so pretty, I felt like driving today and my driver often only reads the first and last posts in a thread. Maybe next time I will get him to read more. Or just let him drive like I am paying him to do and I will do my own reading.Elle wrote:I am curious to know why you didn't call out the previous two posters for mocking my use of language?
Re: Specific question about Split Test
Maybe you could have the driver contact the OP's doctor, I don't think he's gonna' be capable of doin' it himself.
