Should this become a 'Sticky'?

Post by tedburnsIII » Sat Apr 25, 2015 9:19 pm

I found an informative overview of the whole darn thing we are here about. It is a study, more an overview, of OSA, with mention of the other apneas and SDB.
It was suggested by a seasoned veteran here that I first post it and see if any of you are in accord about it becoming a Sticky before requesting of the Administrator to consider doing so.

It is from the Univ of MD Medical Center.

What do you think? 'Sticky-worthy'? Please read or at least skim the whole darn thing and comment here.

Thanks!

No!!

For starters, the misinformation in the first list is appalling, out of date and just plain wrong. There is so much real and good info already here (see lightbulb at top, and just read threads over the years, plus the "Announcements" section... people here are already pretty well educated about apnea and don't need old myths laid on.

"Obstructive sleep apnea can develop in anyone at any age but most often occurs in people who are:
Overweight
Male
Age 40 and older
Smokers"

No! Everything here is a sticky, even more so on weekends. 70% of studys are miss leading or false, and most studies are reversed as bad science in a few years.

They cite numerous authorities and references at the end of the study.

WADR, what authorities do you rely upon, Julie?

Every printed study on the planet comes with refs, etc. So what? Doesn't make them good or right or anything else useful. And I've been here (god knows why) since 2006, those are my credentials for knowing something about OSA and the tons of b-s that's published about it.

Gee, what is YOUR PROBLEM?

I am a newbie, I am in favor of making it a Sticky. I wanted to solicit your opinions on it. I am thinking of other newbies who know little or nothing about the area and thought this study was great and did not find anything comparable here other than 'anecdotal' statements. This study cited others conducted according to the scientific method and this was headed up by an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. He is also a physician at Mass General.

I am trying to figure out IMO what 'personality' 'disorder' you apparently suffer from other than a sleep 'disorder'. Let me know. But I digress. You are some kind of 'bug', aren't you?

But we give you opinions and you then want to argue... maybe just listen for a while now. It's tempting to immediately be an expert on something you just learned yourself, but time does a better job of that. And just because someone is connected to Hahvad doesn't make them all seeing, maybe more like an old crock.

Too bad for the few of us that stayed awake in class, we could have slept thru it, then the rewrite of science, would have taken place and we wouldn't have to relearn everything. Maybe we should wait until the cliff notes come out. Jim

I don't like the personal attacks, which I never initiate. On other forums, posts of such nature would be removed.

Calling it a night. Good night.
