Re: OT:Defective frog ((update))
It is a well known fact that frogs require extra special pampering at times like this. If for some reason the SO is not aware of this we can clue him in for you.chunkyfrog wrote:Well, I'm out of surgery, on the way home.
A bit groggy, and a little beat up, but not much pain.
No lifting for a few days, I can deal with that--"Honey, can you move this?"
Should I milk it, or what?

Glad it's over for you, CF. Now on to speedy (but not too speedy, for milking's sake) healing.

Re: OT:Defective frog--(update)
Well, I'm in the ER. Small problem. Surgeon ordered no metformin today and two more days.
After my nap, blood sugar was 304, an hour later 322. I freaked and called docs office.
Too late (of course) , and they said go to ER. Waiting for lab results. Probably just trauma.
I know the BS already coming down, just by how I feel.
I know +300 is nothing to some people, but I'm not them.
So now they are checking my electrolytes.

No problem, labs OK. Electrolytes OK. Glucose still going down.
I wish they had warned me in post-op that these levels might happen so
I would not have freaked out.
Who am I, anyway, an endocrinologist? Never heard of one that's GREEN!

It's late in Lincoln and you've had quite the day, Froggie. You made the right call to get checked out. I hope you have a long, lovely night's sleep.

I believe I will. Still have not needed any pain meds-- none at all, but I may tap into the ibuprofen
when I hit the sack. Not long now. The 3 hour, 40 min nap threw my circadians overboard!
(But they have crawled back onto the lilypad, so I think we're cool.).

Re: OT:Defective frog--(update)
My mother is on metformin only. She had carpal tunnel surgery a few weeks back and he bg's skyrocketed after too. She was given insulin and was fine after that. Not sure how she is diabetic to begin with as she's so skinny! She was dx'd in her 70's.chunkyfrog wrote:No problem, labs OK. Electrolytes OK. Glucose still going down.

Re: OT:Defective frog--(update)
Well, the nurse called back, and no new appointments. My glucose is down close to normal, and I am avoiding any carb possible.
I get the pathology report around Thursday afternoon. I don't even expect to have a scar; maybe a dimple, though.
Worst case scenario: I'm a year ahead of next year's mammogram, because there was nothing on this one.
