Sick and Scared
Re: Sick and Scared
You obviously have no clue who you're talking about now... PR could 'research' circles around your nonsense in his sleep (pun intended), and probably hasn't talked to a sleep doctor in decades. You're getting old... boring... one track mind... bye bye.

what is this "sleep doctor" thing you speak of?Julie wrote:probably hasn't talked to a sleep doctor in decades.
I'm unfamiliar with the concept.
I can, however, certainly understand enough to know to avoid whatever this "johncooke" (john crook?) charlatan is trying to ram down our throats.

Re: Sick and Scared
I completely agree. I would also like to add that OSA affects many different people regardless of their health, age, or physical stature. The main contributing factors are usually a narrow airway, a uvula and soft palate that hangs down and blocks the airway, and a tongue that falls back and blocks the airway. There are others as well such as the size of your tonsils and the thickness of your neck. The point I'm trying to make, one that our friend John doesn't seem to realize, is that not all airways are created equally! All of the nutrition in the world isn't going to hold an airway open that's prone to closing when forces of REM sleep and gravity are applied to it. I have seen people who where in otherwise perfect health, and I mean perfect, except for the fact they were suffering from OSA. Their state of "nutritional excellence" was failing to splint their airway open for them at night when they slept. They were just pushing themselves through the symptoms. Their lives were changed after they received their CPAP.Wulfman... wrote:Physical structural abnormalities/deficiencies/anomalies (in the airways) are the primary causes of obstructive sleep apnea.
Giving people false hope is like handing them a fully loaded revolver and suggesting they play Russian roulette.
The obituary sections of newspapers have numerous examples of people whose vanity or ignorance prevented them from sleeping with a life-saving breathing device.
Also, you are incorrect mr. cooke when you say that CPAP is only treating the symptoms and not the source. Some of the symptoms are sleep deprivation, headaches, hypertension, and depression. The source of these symptoms is ultimately a collapsed airway. Therefore, CPAP treats the problem at the source.

Many were warmly welcomed and stayed for varying amounts of time. We have generally appreciated their knowledgeable contributions. Unfortunately, there have been "a few" who have come here to rant and rave about (against) people taking control of their own therapy, making statements like "changing your own therapy settings is against the law" and other ridiculous things.
Hopefully I can contribute in a positive way. I promise that is my intention. Whether it's in the hospital, home care, or on this forum, I just want to apply what I have learned over the years as a practitioner and use it to possibly help someone. As far as taking control of your own therapy, I say it's your life and you're the one living it so do what you need to do. I have no problem with that. I think some of the RT's get mixed up because a lot of the states have laws that prohibit "unlicensed personnel" from setting the pressure on the device. They forget that "unlicensed personnel" only applies to employees of the company providing the device who are not licensed clinicians, not the population at large.
Thanks!Wulfman... wrote:Welcome to the forum.

I am a respiratory therapist... do you think that is impossible for me to achieve that or something...what do you do?
looks like your just a little taddle tale trying to complain about things that don't matter, I blatantly put it on my website...what do you mean claiming?? Do you have some questions about respiratory or are you just going to say some basic comments and hide behind anonymity?

Re: Sick and Scared
I think someone needs to report you to your professional association for being truly messed up. I think you're a danger to patients and need to be stopped. The 'information' on your website is so wrong in so many ways - shocking ignorance.

"Avoid Pills: Any medication besides penicillin and a few others like it are basically toxic poison and should never be taken. Sleeping pills, anxiety pills or any other type of gimmick pills are not necessary and are actually detrimental to health if anything." - John Cooke (from his website link in his profile)
Really? Really?
Your recommending people stop blood pressure medication, seizure medication, narcolepsy medication and many others that are life critical while telling them that Penicillin is okay? You do know that Penicillin can cause complete anaphylaxis resulting in death if not treated immediately right? If you wait more than a minute or two at most before treating anaphylaxis from Penicillin you will most likely end up dead. Be very careful what you say John Cooke as you might end up on the defense side of a wrongful death suit.

Re: Sick and Scared
I don't have a problem letting you know who I am. See my profile. Your assertions are specious. Your knowledge questionable. You fly in the face of any reasonable peer in your profession and you react like a child when challenged. Now answer me why we should treat you as you have any voracity?johncooke wrote:

Re: Sick and Scared
johncooke,
You might have already left the party but in case you haven't,let me ask these questions. I have two family members who most likely had sleep apnea when they were alive and currently another family member has it and so do 3 living relatives. So how do your theories fit in with this situation since we all ate a variety of diets and grew up under different environments and had different body shapes.
Just so you and folks are clear on this board, I think what you are espousing is a bunch of BS. But I am still interested in your reply if you feel like making one.

Hey "Guest" Im assuming you must have brain trauma and not sleep apnea cause My goodness gracious what on earth is your point???
Did you know that aspirin and NSAIDs cause the same allergic reation how many times has a doctor told you to take one of those???? Other common causes include chemotherapy, vaccines, protamine as well as other medications such as vancomycin, morphine, x-ray contrast etc.....they all can cause anaphylaxis.....WHAT ON EARTH WAS THE POINT YOU WHERE TRYING TO MAKE???? there is also foods that cause anaphylaxis....
So by taking one thing out of context and saying it causes anaphylaxis, you feel like you really debunked me or something????
...first of all your the same person that has commented before but now are too scared to show real profile, just decided to post under guest, are you afraid of looking bad??????... CPAP makes throat weaker and also CPAP can cause infections due to mold does that make CPAP horrible, not necessarily it depends on the person.
First off... you are taking things out of context..you know what that means right??? Also you are too scared to comment with your regular profile so your answer will be very short until you can grow a pair and face me with your real profile, you are one scared person.
About 80% of prescription medicine are at best placebos and at worse they are poison, that just subsides symptoms that still leaves about an average of 20% can be effective...I am not trying to convince you of anything If you don't like what I say here it is a suggestion... "STOP READING MY BLOG and or posts and comment...as I can see you are very interested in everything that I am doing, here is a great idea why don't you just mind your own business..
I know you really can't stop thinking about me but you need to ask a question, not just make ignorant statements... I used penicillin for an example...do you know what an example is??? There are not many things beyond penicillin and a few others that actually help heal they only treat symptoms and add to liver problems...but I do not want YOU to stop taking medications rather I hope you keep taking them I am not wanting to help everybody and you would be one of them.
blood pressure medication and cancer medication etc they are not a replacement for changing lifestyle they only help symptoms and do not cure... Also people do not have to take my advice and or listen to this so I will not have a wrongful death suit on my hands....Again, I will leave that up to your doctor, to do to you.
I want to help people who need help, but I want you to stay on CPAP and keep going to your doctor please and stop commenting to me and we wont have to talk anymore fair enough.
I have a feeling your one of the CPAP representatives on here that said he/she would not talk to me anymore saying soothing cute like "see you later" and then you make a "guest" profile.... man o man I must be cutting in to your CPAP equipment sales or something???
If you have a real question I will answer it but if you keep coming with blanket statements I will definitely not be as kind....You are trying to make other peoples decisions for them and I feel you have made a lot of bad decisions in your life so please don't rub that off on others who still have a chance to change and seek out a better way..
IT Is definitely TOO Late for you so whatever I say in the future, it is not for you....It is for others who would like to heal naturally and not be charged tons of money to do so.
Oh and just a life lesson stop jumping to conclusions saying stuff like
"Your recommending people stop blood pressure medication, seizure medication, narcolepsy medication and many others that are life critical while telling them that Penicillin is okay"
This Comment was make and completely fabricated by you and your non logical mind... I did not say anything of the sort and different people are able to do different things..... I can tell by the way you write that you are not able to do many things at all and usually fall short so you try to make sure no one else does it, cause you could not.

Ah, It didn't take long for pale rider to say yet again another useless comment, did it folks?......I think your feelings are already hurt as you just can't stop commenting, so I reply, if you don't like it don't comment...palerider wrote:ah, it didn't take long for this thief's true colors to show, did it folks?johncooke wrote: Sleep specialist is that good enough for your Nazi blood.. are you going to correct me on the way I say tomato also.... and no I want you to stay on CPAP the rest of your life and mind your own business.... unless you got a question, your comments make no sense and have no relevance Im assuming your a little slow....keep quoting me and you will get your little feelings hurt....
To answer your question....No That was not true colors just the truth, I don't want to be a CPAP saleman/rep even though you ask me to... Great contribution pale rider you really helped out no one with that last post.. what next are you going state more things that are obvious and try to boost your ego with all your regurgitated CPAP knowledge and high post count... I can see how you got your post number up just adding all these worthless canned filler responses that do not matter to anyone except your little cronies. You must be friends with the moderator and Im assuming there are a lot of CPAP reps like you on this forum trying to sell and they get real mad when someone suggests anything. BEWARE of Pale Rider and his CPAP selling agenda..
