I really appreciate your post RobySue as I have come to see that there are real people here that aren't afraid to share themselves. While the internet has obvious limitations and concerns, there are people behind these computers and it seems the ones who share the most are loved the most.
Thank you for your knowledgeable contribution to cpap users and I wish you well.

Well, robysue, has the sniping made you decide to stay away for another 6 months yet?

I was kinda hoping y'all would invade us and fix the health (don't)care system here.

Robysue, you're dealing with hard issues... I understand, because my nephew is addicted to pornography, and is currently on probation because of it. I feel for him, because his probation will continue until after his 15-year-old graduates from high school, and except for her, he can't associate with minors; because of it he lost his job that had excellent benefits, etc. and is now working part-time and attending welding school that he hopes will give him good chances for decent employment when this is over. His wife is a recovered alcoholic and spent much of their daughter's early years in rehab for her addiction.

So... to move on, we are all happy to have you back, and we all appreciate the excellent help you have given us. Take care of you, that's most important.

Sometime after WW1 a brigade of the first Canadian infantry division actually made it as far as Chicago on a military exercise. The Canadians had no trouble at all convincing the border people that they were going back home. Two American officers agreed that they were American Army returning home. When they got to Chicago the Americans thought it was a parade. Apparently the Canadians did not know that the first week of July is holiday time in the US. At the end of the war of 1812 Canada (or UK) gave back most of the north central states to the US. Canadians didn’t know what to do with these and figured it was too much trouble to administer.

Robysue: I hope you get through this.

First,

Thanks to all who have wished me well with my current cousin "problem". I appreciate your kind works and your sharing of your own problems with alcoholic relatives. It means a lot to me.

It also feels good to be back.

Next, I have to comment on some of the *other* posts:

To Huh?: Not sure why you seem so offended by a clearly marked OT post. But to paraphrase your own words: If it floats your boat to complain about clearly marked OT posts, so be it. But do keep in mind that forums are made up of *people*, and a lot of the old timers who have been posting here for years have developed some pretty deep friendships. And I wanted to let my friends here at cpaptalk know what's been up with me and why I've been missing in action for the last 6 or 7 months. Please keep in mind that it is all of us old timers who constantly provide plenty of high quality advice and information to an ever changing group of newbies.

As sniping goes, To Huh?'s sniping is at least not full fledged Flame War material. And I've been around here long enough to have witnessed (and participated) in some doozies over the years.

@Pesser: I greatly appreciated the comments about the Canadian infantry division in Chicago

Why do you say "offended"? No offense was taken, just got a creepy feeling that these things are aired on a CPAP forum. If anyone gets offended, it should be you.

Why do you and some others say, "clearly marked OT"? It was clearly marked "OT?". Putting a question mark behind a subject makes it a big change.

Let me remind you what caused this reaction by you and other regulars who circled the wagons against a newcomer:
Huh? wrote:Seems strange to air all of this on a CPAP forum. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Now if you and your internet coffee klatch take such offense at "seems strange but carry on", it tells me something about the psychology here. You have some regulars who have made this forum a big part of their lives and want to be "stars" on the forum and are easily offended by someone new coming in.

If you think it's a lone me who is on to your game, three other members have emailed me about what goes on. Two were quite acerbic and I will not repeat those, but the third was clean and to the point:
Hi Huh? In real life you and I would be friends. You caught on quickly as to who the idiots are over there! I've read several of your recent posts and they easily could have been written by me. I seldom post these days... the atmosphere stinks on that forum. It's a shame because there are a few helpful, knowledgeable people that actually help new people... many long gone since I joined the forum in 2011.
Carry on.

Moving away from the negativity, I would like to say that, even though it's obvious that we receive CPAP help here on the forum, posts like Roby Sue's are also a big help to those of us who suffer "alone" with seemingly insurmountable problems of our own. I dare say that most of us encounter situations like these at one time or another, and it's comforting to realize that there are others who care and can empathize with us and, perhaps, offer suggestions to see things through. Bless you, Roby Sue!
