Do Many of You Have the Ramp Feature Turned Off?

Post by RobertS975 » Sat Jan 31, 2015 8:29 am

I have had a ResMed Elite 9 for almost a year... pressure is set at 10cm. I almost always use a P10. Originally, by DME nurse set the ramp for 20 minutes, but I have shortened the ramp to five minutes a long time ago, and my question is how many of you have the ramp feature off altogether?

I used the ramp last night with my new machine. Otherwise, haven't used it in three years since a couple days after using my first machine. It makes me feel like I am suffocating with such a low pressure.

Ramp free here as well. I tried it early on as I raised my pressure...

I have never used it in 5 1/2 years.
It wasn't turned on when I got it and by the time I figured out all the settings I didn't need it.

Generally no, don't use it anymore, although not really averse to doing so. I'm usually so exhausted it doesn't make a difference.

The new Resmed auto has an 'auto ramp' option that automatically turns on ramp when the machine starts so you don't even need to push a ramp button.

I turned it off within the first 15 minutes of my first night and never turned it on again. However, my pressure range is much lower than many people's, so I'm sure it's easier for me to fall asleep than it is for others.

I am a comfort "junkie." I thoroughly enjoy my 5 minute ramp.

Quit using after 3 days . More comfortable without and I fall asleep quicker.

You may want to raise your ramp start pressure gradually by 0.5cm for a week at a time. That way you will eliminate the ramp to zero soon. It will help you adjust gradually; rather than immediately by eliminating the ramp completely now.

Ramp = off. Used it one time in 8 months. With C-flex and pre-heating the humidifier I find no discomfort when skipping the ramp.

OFF - I can't quite remember but I think I only used it for 2-3 days before turning it off and my inhalation starts at 21.
