The CSV created by Sleephead imports fine in the 3 versions of Excel I tried it with (2003/2010 and 2013) using default settings. Just need to adjust the cell widths a bit to get some of the data to show properly.palerider wrote:I'm also pretty sure that sleepyhead actually does export comma separated value files, but when you open them in excel, it just turns 'em into a spreadsheet automatically.photonic wrote:Thanks for that; I am always learning something here!!
I know mark dislikes microsoft enough that he'd not be wanting to go to the extreme lengths that would be needed to generate excel files
I would not waste anytime trying to generate one of the many versions of binary Excel spreadsheet types. Different versions, types etc.. not worth the effort since all you really need is the data.
CSV should be good enough. Excel will import that fine. The only differences normally are the delimiter and file type (Dos vs Mac). Excel will read both.
